"So....The Miners Arms; recently taken over by Michael Simmone. I 'll start with the deco tastefully done throughout with old, antique furnishings and an open fire. Theres a little snug at the back, which is super cosy. There 's a lovely chilled, relaxed atmosphere all round. The pub is dog friendly with a dog station. There 's a play area for children in the beer garden outdoor seating front back. There 's a large car park too. A reduced menu is running at the moment until the kitchen is fully up running. There 's still a wide selection to choose from, and it 's great quality with good sized potions. We 'll stocked bar with a great choice of gins, wines beer. The location is not too far from Ebchester boathouse and the Derwent walk, ideal to pop into after a long walk. They have live music advertised on their Facebook page, which I will definitely be popping in to see (not to mention the free shot and nibbles offered). This pub has everything you could want. They also do Sunday dinners, which look absolutely amazing."

It's people like Michael and Simone at The Miners Arms that make our entire trip worthwhile and memorable. What a lovely group of people. The Sunday dinner was an epic traditional experience for us Americans. We will definitely be back.

The Miners was closed in November but has recently reopened under new ownership. I have visited twice since then, once on the opening night and another mid-week visit. This was our local spot until it sadly closed in 2023. I must say, the new ownership has made a great start with pleasant, friendly, and attentive staff. The menu is currently limited but looks good and reasonably priced, with plans to expand it soon. I am excited for The Miners to return as a great pub with good food and atmosphere, complete with a cozy coal fire. I highly recommend a visit as any previous negative reviews from 2023 are no longer relevant.
