"We were lucky enough to experience the taster menu twice last year, a wonderful experience which has stayed in our memory. This year we visited Wheelers with a couple of friends for lunch, unfortunately due to timings we were unable to book for the taster menu in the evening. The restaurant was very busy,but we had booked well in advance for our table of 4. Service initially was a little rushed, but still friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food, once again, was sensational, everything from crab cakes which apparently have been on the menu for 25 years), cod, served with gazpacho, lobster lasagne, sea trout, perfectly cooked scallops, Oriental prawn and scallop dumplings, beautiful fresh Whitstable native oysters and the list goes on... As if this wasn't enough, a myriad of delights on the deli counter on the way out. We could never tire of this place, or the innovative new dishes or even the old faithfuls). Just wish we were closer to Whitstable! One not to miss."

What a hidden gem! Lovely comfortable restaurant serving top notch seafood. Very inventive but show casing classical cooking at its best! A small menu ensures super fresh fish and sea food. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

A delightful experience really good local oyster and a most excellent seafood chowder. The staff are friendly and engaging making sure you enjoy your experience. Lots of ‘local’ atmosphere which makes it a lovely experience especially as the staff make you feel very welcome. Great seafood and well worth a visit but booking is a must.

Came here Saturday afternoon. Didn't book but were able to eat at the counter. We had 6 rock oysters and seafood from the counter. The food was delicious and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble even though they were very busy. Ordered a selection on items, went and got bottles from The Offy so we could have 2x bottle of processco with our food. Lovely place Voir le carte

We booked Wheelers on the strength of other reviews. We booked well in advance as I know they get booked up quickly. The tasting menu we had on Saturday night was so good, every dish was full of taste and a real social occasion as we all discussed the various dishes. It was a bring your own alcohol restaurant which we knew in advance which also worked really well and kept the overall cost down. Mark, the head chef made a point of coming out at the end of the evening and talking to the diners really nice touch.

Sea food tasting menu at its best. We booked it way in advance as I read how popular it is. Very intimate settings. So intimate that we ended up chatting to the couple next to us and shared our wines with them. BYO with £5 corkage. The off license opposite has some of the finest wines and champagnes. Food is delicate, fresh, beautifully presented and served by some of the friendliest staff. Really enjoyed our meal and ended up staying late. Everyone left and we were the only ones chatting away. The staff silently waited and no one interrupted to have us out. So thoughtful. Will remember this experience.
