"Today at the Wenvoe arms I was totally disgusted with how we were treated. My daughter in law joined us her two extremely allergic children. We spent over £100 pounds on food but took two cartons of Ribena for the children. The landlady was extremely rude to my daughter in law saying that only food and drink purchased could be consumed there. Everything my grandson has has to be scrutinised as he’s so allergic to most things. Ribena is one of the very few things he can.have. We tried to explain to the landlady who wouldn’t have any of it and spoke through gritted teeth to my daughter in law. Further to say I hope this goes viral to the surrounding areas ,Rhoose, Pentyrch and St Nicolas which is where we are from. Hence to say we will never frequent these premises again. You have lost affluent customers over a juice box of Ribena."

Popped in at 2.15 pm on a quiet Friday- asked very unfriendly landlady if we could play darts- she refused saying it is only for darts team to use and that tables were booked. Only table used was no where near the dart board.

Top food, top service, top ale! Been here a few times recently and always had great food. The young lady looking after our table both times is a credit to the place. Beef and ale pie and the burger are both amazing! Everyone loved it both times. Looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu soon.

Why this landlady thinks she is suited to the hospitality sector is beyond me. Rude and officious and acts as if every request is a burden. Staff lovely but I can only imagine what the working environment is like. For goodness sake don't try and tell her that something on the website needs updating, like food being available all week we turned up and the pub was shut. Voir le carte

Came here for a quick pint after a visit to Duffryn Gardens. Had to wait for the barrel to be changed (no problem) and as soon as they had swapped the barrel, they immediately pulled up my pint from behind the bar which I didn 't see them pour. When I tasted it, it was 100% a shandy. I took the beer back and the lady said she 'd sort it out now without any form of explanation or apology. She poured a fresh pint in front of me which tasted as expected genuinely feels they were trying to pull a fast one here.

My wife and I booked a meal here as we were staying at the nearby Premier Inn ready to fly to Lyon for the Rugby World Cup. The hosts were nice and friendly people and the pub restaurant had a good atmosphere .The meals we ordered were hot and tasty and we had good portions.Digby ,the landlord was a friendly guy and his wife made sure we we always ok.The young lady who served us was polite and friendly ,our drinks were also top notch. If you are in the area pop in and try the restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely location, lovely staff. Bit ridiculous and petty with their policy not letting my 1 year old and 3 year old consume their own drinks despite our large food order. Landlady was beyond rude and quite aggressive in her stance towards her policy that only food or beverages purchased on premises are to be consumed. Would love to see what her take on this would have been to my son and his lactose free milk? Needless to say I will not being going there again. Beyond a joke and very belittling. There is a cost of living crisis be grateful for the custom! Voir le carte

This was the worst experience dining out ever the most vile rude landlady with such a poor attitude why she’s in hospitality I’ll never know , the way she was speaking to the young waitress was actually disturbing, ordering her around loud and clear for all to hear left us feeling sorry for the poor young girl , the food was horrendous stone cold hard chips probably left over from lunch time served back up in the evening, and lasagne was inedible how it’s called lasagne when it doesn’t contain pasta in it , just a lump of dry cheap mincemeat with a thick lump of melted cheese on top , I would avoid this place at all costs !!

We dined as a family of five on Saturday evening. We all had different meals and each meal was well presented and tasty. I enjoyed a Steak and Ale pie which had home made pastry all around, rather than just a puff pastry lid served at many places. What made our evening was the friendly and professional service from a young lady called Sophie. Her people skills really stood out, especially going above and beyond with my disabled brother who has learning disabilities and also in a wheelchair. I am sure she will excel in any future profession with such a lovely attitude. It was certainly the best restaurant service we have experienced in a very long time, thank you.

"I raved about this place in my last review but since then it appears to have changed. Firstly, I cant remember the chairs being so uncomfortable that they had 'scatter ' cushions for you to use if you needed to. Having had back surgery, they made it even worse for me, so did without them in the most uncomfortable chair ever. Now, to the main part of the review. The lovely cakes that I had raved about had disappeared to be replaced by a sorry looking load of bog standard cake. The poor girl who served us was nervous as it was her first day, we ordered pecan pie which came with cream, we asked if its pouring or thick, she had to ask, it was pouring so we asked if we could have ice cream instead, she had to ask. Anyway, we finally ordered our cake and coffee. When she brought the coffee, she spilled half of mine in the saucer and then asked if I wanted a different saucer....duh! she took the offending saucer and the spoon brought a saucer back, no extra serviette to wipe the bottom of the cup and NO SPOON! We were then served the cake and ice cream, which to be fair, was nice, until, halfway through I saw a hair on my friends plate, (she was not wearing her glasses). We knew instantly that it was not either of ours, I have shoulder length hair and her hair was in a bun! We called the poor young lady over and pointed it out, she asked if my friend wanted to change it...duh! Of course she did, she brought another and thankfully my friend shared it with me! The coffee was (flat white) was nice but after that catalogue of events I wont be going back. They do offer a range of snacks/lunches and people did seem to be enjoying them."
