"This was our local' while we stayed at Thornhill miles away. Unfortunately it was closed Monday Tuesday and didn't do meals Sunday night so Wednesday night was our only option. That is a shame as we would probably have done nights there and nights at La Strada with hindsight. This pub is dog friendly very ! Dogs are welcomed and diners with dogs can sit where they like. The landlady is lovely chatty and friendly and very welcoming. It felt like we were regulars. Our starter was very slow coming and there had been a mix up, we didn't complain but it was knocked off the bill. Amazing, we would never have asked for that. It was hummus, pitta bread and salad and nicely served and tasty.Mains: my husband had belly pork and mash which he declared to be superb. I had a chicken and mushroom pie as pies seem to be a speciality here. Well yes.... what a fabulous pie ! As tasty as it gets with chips, peas and a very tasty gravy. Absolutely yummy. As it was our last night I lashed out on a pudding and wow. The cherry creme brulee was the best I've ever had served with amoretto ice cream and a shortbread biscuit. Divine !It was clear they were understaffed like so many places currently but staff rushed round doing their best.We live miles away so can't exactly pop back but if we could we most certainly would. If we had been there another nights we would have eaten there and at La Strada which is close by. Definitely recommended if you are in the area of Royal Wootton Bassett or heading from Swindon to Avebury."

Friendly atmosphere. Good service. They have special nights most evenings. Our night was fish and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful local but hidden pub. Would definitely recommend. Service: 4 Location: 4

Popped in for Friday night supper. I had Beef Cobbler which was delicious and my partner had a pasta dish with seafood. The weather allowed us to sit outside in a large beer garden. Would definitely visit again Service: 5 Location: 5

The food was cold and they had hardly any variety for vegetarians they had no vegetarian gravy so had no gravy only options was potato, brown peas , cold cauliflower cheese , and hard carrots worst dinner I’ve ever had the food there used to be so good but what tops it off is the bill came to £45 for 2 vegi roasts and lemonades will not be returning Rooms: 1

Visited Saturday Sunday this weekend , had lunch both days and food quality and portions both very good .On both days the extremely pleasant and very hard working landlady made us feel so welcome to the pub even though very busy and was a breath of fresh of this industry , we will be returning again shortly and just gutted this is not our local pub as seems to have got every think spot on .

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
