"One is tempted to spontaneously give 5 stars out of 5 possible. In the end I still don't do it (goose) completely. We (four people) entered the restaurant from the rather gloomy Julius-Leber-Straße and you found yourself in a different world. In a bright atmosphere you will be warmly welcomed and shown to a festively set table. The service remains excellent throughout the evening. The selection of champagne as an aperitif and the wine list with the meal are really good. We had pre-ordered the goose menu to match the season. Apart from the fact that you know that the main course is roast goose, it is a surprise menu. After the usual little greeting from the kitchen, we were given porcini mushroom soup as a starter. Extremely delicious. Five stars. The main course was the pre-ordered whole goose for four people. This was also shown to us before it was cut up (it looked wonderful). Unfortunately, the cutting itself didn't happen at the table but in the kitchen. According to the service employee, the goose would be cut up under a heat lamp and then served to us in two courses so that the meat on the plate didn't get cold. Two sets of cutlery were also presented at each place setting. As expected, a small portion of roast goose was served at every seat. Add some small dumplings and some red cabbage in bowls. A small amount of sauce was delivered later upon request. There was also a bowl with small contents, which was probably the stuffing for the goose. You could also see them at the presentation of the goose. After we had emptied our plates (it really tasted very good), our plates were cleared away and the waitress went into the kitchen and announced that she wanted to get the second batch. It was a big surprise when she returned to the table and said that that was probably all before. In short, we weren't really full. Apparently the goose was too small for four people or it was cut up so badly in the kitchen that there was unnecessary waste. Too bad! There was then a small dessert and on the way back via the Lübeck Christmas market a currywurst for the two men. Overall, a nice evening, the rating should not be a slur. Johanna Berger is definitely a good upscale restaurant. But there is room for improvement. Especially since in the end we paid well at 550 euros, including champagne and a bottle of wine."

Great service, staff very attentive with the right degree of entertainment. Entrees and deserts delicious. Considering the Michelin star mains were slightly disappointing.

We had the set menu and wine pairing. Food was excellent, wine was great. Some variation but overall very nice. Service was fast and smooth. Really nothing to complain about apart from the slightly crooked painting of Günther Grass. A most pleasant evening!

Little restaurant, very stylish and elegant with absolutely reasonable prices and an OUTSTANDING spargelsuppe. I warmly recommend also the gnocchi with spargel. Just taken into consideration a rather limited choices. A perfect topping for a perfect day in a wonderful town

Just happened to walk by one lunchtime. Warmly greeted by the friendly staff who showed us to the shaded courtyard at the back of the restaurant. The interesting lunchtime menu was very reasonably priced and the pasta dishes we both chose was excellent. Our table...was next to a small herb garden and, after our order was taken, one of the kitchen staff came and picked the herbs needed for our dish. I can't think of a nicer place to enjoy lunch or dinner with friends.

The service was very good, and saving this place from 1 stars. The kitchen really is nothing but standard german cuisine. We ordered from the card. And for 3 of the 4 courses, it was practically the same garniture: salad, hokkaido, pees, carrots and cabbage?!! Also the courses lacks seasoning. It was like salt and pepper was not available the day we visited. A huge disappointment. If you like fine dining, this is NOT the place. It's really just ordinary german cuisine. With salad.

I was absolutely thrilled with my visit to the Johanna Berger restaurant! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. I would particularly like to highlight the exceptionally friendly manner of waiter Ali, who really sweetened our evening with his charming and attentive service. He was always available, gave us great recommendations and was simply incredibly warm. Also big praise to the chef Jamel, who really enchanted us with his culinary creations. The dishes were not only a visual delight, but also tasted impressive across the board. You can immediately tell that the cooking here is done with attention to detail. All in all a great experience I'll definitely be back! Many thanks to the... Voir le carte

We were visiting Lubeck for a day by train from Travemunde and wanted to be sure of a good meal so had made a booking based on various internet reviews. The restaurant has a quiet, pleasant atmosphere and serves good food. The reception was a...bit cool and slow, but the person serving us at the table was pleasant. Price/quality was in good balance. But It was a good idea to have euro in cash on me, because as several times before when I pulled out my card, I got the usual story that the machine did not work. The other frequent excuse in Germany is “the connection is very bad”. It is unbelievable that this wealthy, well organised country can’t get itself sorted when it comes to this basic pa...

If you want a special meal and memory to match? Well that is how we felt after taking dinner, here. The restaurant is in a beautiful, historic house and decorated in an understated but elegant way. The team are friendly and the service excellent. If...you are looking for a more refined environment and a more contemporary approach to what you eat then you will have a great evening. We were impressed by the competence of every course for the balance of flavours, textures, styles and presentation. It is not too formal and stuffy perfectly relaxed dining and great wine selection at all levels. Overall, this is a great marriage of old and new approaches to what is on your plate and the very best...

"Luckily, Lübeck's old town is by no means poor at individual, perhaps even family-run cafes, which are not only branches of one of the dominant bakery chains, but also provide a much more personalized hospitality with their uniqueness and charm. I have already reported about a few, and in this collection, the Cafe Hansehof cannot be missed. The cafe is hidden in an inner courtyard that can be reached via the Wahmstraße. This location alone makes the cafe a secret tip for locals who long for a quiet time away from the crowds of tourists in the warm seasons, which of course come to the more exposed cafes. In addition to many seating in the inner courtyard, the interior located on two floors also delights the guest with a very lovingly designed interior, which has a lively and unique effect mainly due to many antique furnishings. This impression is also reflected in the mind of the operator pair. At lunch in May 2017, when I visited the Cafe Hansehof, the house owner Petra Roos took care of the service. The familial hospitality that she radiated on it immediately leads to a feeling of warm welcome that illuminates the mood and makes the stay all the more pleasant. In a nice conversation, I also learned that by 2015 she had already run a restaurant called Remise just a few houses away. After the termination of the lease, she (luckily for us Lübecker) remained the queen of the Hanse and has now found a new permanent place for her gastronomic heart project. In addition to cakes, breakfast arrangements and sandwiches, it is mainly an offer of many different hearty and sweet pancake dishes, which the Cafe Hansehof has written on the flags and has also become its flagship in Lübecker Gastronomy. These dishes also made me aware of the restaurant and should of course also be my food of choice. In the high north it certainly does not seem unusual that I chose a pancake creation with reference to the sea: a salmon pancake filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream merrettich. (Please click on the picture to see it in the whole. I apologise for the not exactly good quality) salmon pancakes, filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream horseradish. It was already noticed at the first touch that there was really thought about the composition and the court and this was prepared with just as much heart blood. The pancake dough was not too thick or too thin and made the filling tasteful space. There was no ingredient in this, but everything complemented each other in a very good relationship. The smoke aroma of the salmon, the light sweetness and acidity of the apple slices, the slight sharpness of the horseradish, the freshness of the Sour Cream and finally the bite through the onions. Only a small pinch of salt and maybe a few additional (maybe Dill suitable for salmon) would in my opinion be missing for a completely perfect composition. Even at the end of my visit, Fr. Roos concluded this with her great cordiality. After an interesting conversation about the pancake creation and their idea of specializing in such pancake dishes with the cafe, she actually didn't want to accept my tip because I was such a nice, friendly guest for you. Of course, I insisted on wanting to reward them for this great time in their cafe, but nevertheless: How often do you find such a hospitality nowadays? I just wish the Cafe Hansehof all the best and continued stability and success. I strongly recommend that everyone be convinced of the hospitality and the quality of food they have lived here. The cafe definitely deserves to be more than just a secret tip in the Lübecker Gastronomy ."
