"We love going out and eating well. “Today we know health presupposes that we can enjoy our food, take time for it, eat without bad conscience and be content with us. – Epikur or Platon the guest rosophy or the diet plan – it is best to philosophize with a delightful meal!” (quoted to Christine Brombach The surroundings of our enjoyable holiday trips should also be scenic for both of us. The Lübeck bay offers all this in excellent form – especially in Ostholstein. So we wanted to salute our lake stay with restaurant visits. In addition to staying with Kevin Fehling, we also wanted to taste Christian Scharer (2 stars and his kitchen. When we planned the trip in January 2014, he was still on the homepage as a chef. It was then Dirk Seiger (1 star ; for the A Rosa hotel group had changed its model. Almost everywhere in their homes “star cuisines” were closed or newly set up. So we could get to know another star chef and his new concept. Travemünde Beach Station is a few steps from the A Rosa Hotel. It is on the right side when you go towards the promenade. The Columbia Hotel is on the other hand. Travemünde therefore has star restaurants in the narrowest area – they are not even close to Baiersbronn or Bergisch Gladbach. When we entered the house, we had to orient ourselves first and ask at the reception for the way to the restaurant. We were kindly led to the entrance and immediately received from the service. The restaurant is on the ground floor. Some tables were already occupied and we were able to choose freely from the remaining places. The tables are generous and offer good conditions for discussions and service. The menu is printed on a large sheet and sealed with a seal. The restaurant manager Ines Effenberger worked very naturally and cordially, as well as her team, which consisted of two more powers this day. Each person was able to provide two guests alone and to arrange all necessary handles. This included: Cover the cutlery, serve drinks to the walk and set and prepare the dishes – often sauces were added at the table. The service was at all times high and exemplary. In all the changes, it is still French cuisine and also (not yet a pure “Fine Dining Concept” (which unfortunately is more and more common in bistro style, loud room acoustics and tight tables. But it will probably be a sommelier (a loss in my eyes will be waived and there will not be so much staff (it's fine for me; because I don’t want to be “observed” at dinner. But the powers radiate joy and the star chef Dirk Seiger visited us at the end of the table: a young sympathetic man with deed and style. The team holds together and delivered a great performance. From the map we selected the tasting menu (129 euros). The wines that are offered open are also on the bow. You can choose individual or take the complete accompaniment (60 euros). The greetings were presented in three arrangements. The dishes tasted very good and were deliciously dressed. We also like when bread is served as a loaf. Dark flour was used here, it reminded of fresh land bread with crusty crust. We tasted good. The first course was under the motto Tartar, meat from the Holsteiner Ochsen, accompanied by Ostseeaal, Red Bete, horseradish. There were dry Moselriesling from Schubert. The components were well seasoned and enjoyed us through the variety. The second gear also convinces by the opposite ingredients: Atlantic lobster, bloodworm, heaven and earth. It is common to combine many surprises at the time, but it also has its charm. From Knipser there were Sauvignon Blanc. The third gang consisted of Waller, Imperialcaviar, Celery and Beurre Blanc. This plate was “classic” in its ingredients and he enjoyed my heart. The Chablis was a tasty addition. The fourth course was the “Bäckchen” – I had already telephoned and inquired with the restaurant manager in advance. We have already eaten several times the specialty bakers and had not been happy with the consistency of the meat (usually infinitely soft and rice-like in the mouth. I can confirm that. This bake was the first one that really tasted delicious to me. My wife still chose an alternative (column jau . The fish was also delicious (we have exchanged and mutual “sampling” and were not “proven” from the local – our conclusion: the piglet has to be tasted. A really successful gang. The Pannobile by Heinrich from a huge doublemagnum bottle was excellent. I am a great “Heinrich Verehrer” since I tried his wines in Vienna years ago and was able to speak to the winemaker in the Cologne wine cellar at Hausmesse himself. The main course was the Bresse Taubenbrust with broccoli, bitter orange and Blue Mountain coffee jus. The meat has an intense taste and is buttery at the same time. It also reminded us of liver aromas. I still like this consistency, but my wife is not so much on this taste (see bakery, but Kalbsbries has always tasted us so far and was often a highlight of the food. The Winzer's flagship consists of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot – a classic Bordeaux Blend. The next course was the classic French cheese. The car is rich and every cheese friend is happy: sheep, goat, cow – soft to firm. The raw milk cheese comes from Waltmann from Erlangen (since I sometimes send a package of Comté or Brie, because you can also buy it on the internet. There was bread and mustard. Again and again the fun to get mature cheese. Late botteld Vintage by Graham ́s sweetened the pleasure. The seventh gang was called head salad. Passion fruit, olive oil and muscovado sugar were placed in a glass bowl and then poured over with the head salad, which was processed into a cream. The waitress gave the tip to take two photos at this gang, because before and after, very different pictures can be seen. In fact, it does not look so advantageous with the green hood, but the gang tasted deliciously through the various aromas in the sauces. There were Taittinger demi sec. The scent recalls ripe fruits, pear, some mango and peach with a subtle vanilla note and has a fine sweetness. Finally, as dessert, raspberry came with Kalamansi, Caramelia chocolate and Thai basil. The portion was lush. But dessert always goes. An ice wine from Kracher formed the accompaniment Den Espresso (3,20€ with fine snacks we did not let ourselves take. A more beautiful evening in Travemünde also ended after 4:30 hours. The restaurant has very high ceilings and a stucco decoration with classic shapes. There is a large lamp on the ceiling. There are large flower patterns on the walls. The tables are generously distributed. But the heat of the day was amazed in the room, because there were probably no functioning air conditioning during this time. In order to prevent the guests from getting air, the staff indirectly ventilates the guest area via opened windows in their own entrance. In the bar area in front of the restaurant, a “Modenschau” was carried out; the applause of the spectators was unfortunately good to hear and partly to watch through the windows in the doors. I assumed perfect cleanliness in this house and found it. The way to the toilet leads on the first floor and can be approached by an elevator. The sanitary facilities are located in the guest room area of the hotel. I don't think this is a happy solution. Ladies and gentlemen's department are side by side. The entrance is spacious and equipped with furniture. The toilet (possibly only one unit is also quite large, but karg (soap, towel equipped, but there is nothing missing. Conclusion The concept has fallen in many parts. The dishes were prepared at a high level. A visit is worthwhile. With the La Belle Epoque, however, I don't think it can compete."

Cafe Hansehof

"Luckily, Lübeck's old town is by no means poor at individual, perhaps even family-run cafes, which are not only branches of one of the dominant bakery chains, but also provide a much more personalized hospitality with their uniqueness and charm. I have already reported about a few, and in this collection, the Cafe Hansehof cannot be missed. The cafe is hidden in an inner courtyard that can be reached via the Wahmstraße. This location alone makes the cafe a secret tip for locals who long for a quiet time away from the crowds of tourists in the warm seasons, which of course come to the more exposed cafes. In addition to many seating in the inner courtyard, the interior located on two floors also delights the guest with a very lovingly designed interior, which has a lively and unique effect mainly due to many antique furnishings. This impression is also reflected in the mind of the operator pair. At lunch in May 2017, when I visited the Cafe Hansehof, the house owner Petra Roos took care of the service. The familial hospitality that she radiated on it immediately leads to a feeling of warm welcome that illuminates the mood and makes the stay all the more pleasant. In a nice conversation, I also learned that by 2015 she had already run a restaurant called Remise just a few houses away. After the termination of the lease, she (luckily for us Lübecker) remained the queen of the Hanse and has now found a new permanent place for her gastronomic heart project. In addition to cakes, breakfast arrangements and sandwiches, it is mainly an offer of many different hearty and sweet pancake dishes, which the Cafe Hansehof has written on the flags and has also become its flagship in Lübecker Gastronomy. These dishes also made me aware of the restaurant and should of course also be my food of choice. In the high north it certainly does not seem unusual that I chose a pancake creation with reference to the sea: a salmon pancake filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream merrettich. (Please click on the picture to see it in the whole. I apologise for the not exactly good quality) salmon pancakes, filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream horseradish. It was already noticed at the first touch that there was really thought about the composition and the court and this was prepared with just as much heart blood. The pancake dough was not too thick or too thin and made the filling tasteful space. There was no ingredient in this, but everything complemented each other in a very good relationship. The smoke aroma of the salmon, the light sweetness and acidity of the apple slices, the slight sharpness of the horseradish, the freshness of the Sour Cream and finally the bite through the onions. Only a small pinch of salt and maybe a few additional (maybe Dill suitable for salmon) would in my opinion be missing for a completely perfect composition. Even at the end of my visit, Fr. Roos concluded this with her great cordiality. After an interesting conversation about the pancake creation and their idea of specializing in such pancake dishes with the cafe, she actually didn't want to accept my tip because I was such a nice, friendly guest for you. Of course, I insisted on wanting to reward them for this great time in their cafe, but nevertheless: How often do you find such a hospitality nowadays? I just wish the Cafe Hansehof all the best and continued stability and success. I strongly recommend that everyone be convinced of the hospitality and the quality of food they have lived here. The cafe definitely deserves to be more than just a secret tip in the Lübecker Gastronomy ."

Löffelbar

"Only very few people are likely to have a strong, warm soup in general, we begin our first culinary experiences as a baby with liquid food. But a lot of people can also report about grandmothers or mama's stew, which they have fed as a child with a much too large spoon, more or less tack-free, often for their own mouth. This warming feeling is also that the small spoon bar in the Lübecker Hüxstraße attracts its customers. Outside view. The small restaurant announces to the guest with its red awning from a long distance. If you are standing right in front, the glazed front of the wine-red painted house with the name standing in large white letters is only right a eye-catcher for hungry. Something sober presents itself to the interior. Interior view. Colour was not dispensed with with something green. The wood-metal cellar is kept on the simple and unpadded side (which would still be understandable, as the danger of staining in a soup offer is certainly significantly higher and the upholstery would only have a very short half-life. More than stools and simple tables, however, there is no need here, since a soup is often fed quickly and is intended to serve less than a menu for joint meetings. Funny and at the same time me found that the high chairs were so appropriate that at least with me the soup bowl was placed on the table so that the way to the mouth was really short. Perfectly dimensioned to minimize the risk of pliceries. ; The tables were clean and blunt. A funny accessory is the daily newspapers that are suspended on the wall and can be studied during its short soup period. Something “living” in the form of plants or even more cozy lighting would have been missing for a perfectly chubby “suppen atmosphere” for my personal impression. A chubby feeling is of course to give the soups and stews to which the spoonbar has self-explanatoryly specialized. The variety of this food form is of course predestined to allow the offer to be changed weekly and also daily and thus to offer standing soup heads again and again new reason to return. In the week of my visit there were, for example, Masala chickens; pumpkin tubes; Tomato-Käsetortellini and a curry-lens soup with mint on the board, which was already visible outside on the facade and also in the interior. Sweets can complete their meal, e.g., with likewise chubby milk rice. One more word to the service. This is also adapted to the fact that customers usually return here for a quick lunch break or strengthening. It is ordered directly at the counter, where the selected food is also immediately filled and served. At the end, the dishes, sometimes also empty, are stored in a tray holder by the guest. Thus, a service assessment is aimed more at the character of the staff present. This was limited to the owner as a one-man show. With his open-hearted and friendly way, he spread an absolutely inviting mood and was also called “Schnack” for loose and fun small talk (here in northern Germany). A question about satisfaction was, of course, just like the offer to supplement bread. The harmonious country music in the background was perfect for his mind. From the above offer, I decided for the curry-lens soup with mint. At a price of 4.8 € there was an appropriate portion of an estimated 400 ml to which there was free gray bread. Curry tin soup with mint and coriander. In the white soup bowl, a counter-scattered black base served as a retaining basin for flooding events, as well as for depositing the two slices of gray bread, which of course had only a standard quality. However, they were juicy and soft and thus not old-baked, which corresponded to the quality expected for the price for me. I could ask for additional coriander for me. But this extra spice would not have needed it, because the optimally tempered soup kept both the promised (mild curry taste and the ethereal impact of the mint. These were in good proportion, so no aroma dominated. Tastefully really a round thing. For my personal preference, it would have only been possible to have a few crisp lenses for some bite in the otherwise perfect soup for this level. Here the soup was completely spiced. The consistency was as successful as the taste: neither too thin, nor too thick. At the bottom of the line, it remains to be observed that my culinary expectations have been met to almost 100%. The friendly and open-minded nature of the owner also contributed to a happy strengthening. Thus, for my impression, there is actually only the desire to express a little more heat when designing the interior. Clean and in good condition it was all. So after this visit, the spoonbar showed me as an absolutely sensible and recommended part of the city's gastronomy Lübecks."

Pizzeria Romana

Pizzeria Romana

Solmitzstraße 21, 23569 Lübeck, Germany, Germany

Pizza • Pizzeria • Vegetarier • Italienisch

"Before visiting Lübeck, I made myself intelligent. Googlete after a good pizzeria and with it the Romana was right in front of Lübecks and thus well reached. We parked in the opposite parking lot Aldi. We had no reservations on this stinking Tuesday night and got a table like this when we arrived at 5:30. We have the menus and ordered the drinks (Weizen 0.5l for 3,00 € and water 0.2l for 2,00 € . From the rich offer we chose an antipasti dish for 8,00 € with peperonis, olives, ham, melon pieces, tomato mozzarella, cheese, salad, artichokes and each one pizza once Siziliana with tuna (7,00 € and once Calabria (7,50 € with paprika, ham, mushrooms onions). When we came, I felt the music a bit too loud as we were sitting under the speaker. On my request, the waiter reduced the volume to a pleasant measure. The ambience was very welcoming and the restaurant tastefully decorated. Mediterane wall decorations aroused the appearance of being directly in Italy. Bruschetta was greeted by everyone. The Antipasti was then served together with homemade bread. Wow, what a part. If I had eaten this alone, I would have been tired. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Hardly had we put the empty plates aside, they were already cleaned. Shortly afterwards my tuna pizza came. I almost fell out of my eyes. They didn't see the plate that big. Next came a noodle dish. Didn't we order? The waiter had understood 33 instead of 23. Okay, he could apologize and evoke the pasta in the kitchen. Some Golocal later commented on the right dish woven. An eyewitness like the first pizza and just as delicious. I still fought. Either the pizza threatened to slip away from the plate when cutting, or the entire base went over the table. In the end I had the faxes thick, cut the revolts into smaller pieces and took them in the hand. Satt, tired, tired! When the service asked if he tasted, we could only hunt. He offered us a schnapps we rejected as we had to drive both. Instead, he offered us a cappuccino, espresso or coffee as a bag. Yeah, we liked this offer. Then we waited...and we waited...and we waited...20 min. Then we spoke again with a service staff and the black hunters were brought to the table. We then also demanded the invoice, which was extremely favorable with a total of €27.50. Ambience, taste of food, price / performance and kindness of service has earned 5 stars each. Unfortunately, I have to take a star for attention as he is twice. Overall, however, I can award 5 stars here, as I have rarely eaten so good food SO cheap. It is also not surprising that on Tuesday evening the situation was completely occupied by 19.00."
