"What a fantastic experience. We made a reservation for Thursday night and were impressed by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. Our server was friendly and welcoming. The children's menu had generous portion sizes and quality equal to that of the adult dishes. My wife and I shared a delicious medium rare tomahawk steak, cooked to perfection with a smoky flavor from the open fire. Our daughter enjoyed the bone-in option. The fries were hot and crispy, sprinkled with sea salt. The salad was outstanding, featuring more than just lettuce and tomatoes - it included fresh crumbles that complemented the flavorful meat. The meal was excellent and reasonably priced. It's rare to find a restaurant that offers such a unique dining experience. We highly recommend it."

Oh my, what a lovely evening. Fantastic food cooked and served by lovely staff who made a fuss of our Cocker puppy as well as us. Little bit more expensive than some others but we'll worth it. Try the tomahawk steak!

Fantastic Sunday lunch. The young guy cooking the meat absolutely nailed it. Sirloin, medium rare was sooooo good. Roast potatoes to die for, red cabbage, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, asparagus , carrots and Yorkshire pud ....it just kept coming. Great stuff. Thanks again

Amazing rib eye steak and the triple cooked chip had wonderful flavour. The sherry cream sauce was devine. My partner had the lemon sole which was also cooked to perfection. I did take pictures but for some reason the camera didn't work. If you're on Dartmoor and hungry go.

Without a doubt, the best steaks we have ever tasted! They were cooked right in front of us on a charcoal grill. My son, who is a food enthusiast, was allowed to watch the chef prepare and cook the steak, which was an amazing experience. It wasn't just about the steak though. The appetizers were delicious and the desserts were heavenly. The service was excellent as well. Overall, a 5-star experience! Voir le carte

We were eager to try the steak after hearing about the great experience and reviews, and we were not disappointed. The meal was delicious and cooked perfectly. The venue was cozy and warm, making for a lovely evening. The only issue was the slow service in ordering drinks, food, and dessert. We had to ask the waitress each time, including for the bill after chatting for a while. Despite this, we will definitely be returning.

We received a warm welcome from all of the staff at this wonderful pub. After a long hike over Dartmoor, the basic but comfortable rooms were just what we needed. The hot showers and cozy beds were a perfect way to relax. The food was exceptional, especially the delicious steaks that we got to choose and watch being cooked over an open fire. The rib-eye was incredibly tender and the sherry sauce added a nice touch, served with triple cooked chips and salad. The red wine paired perfectly with our meal. The staff and chef were exceptional, providing a friendly atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to visiting again soon.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
