"This restaurant is on the first floor overlooking the river in Lubeck. There is a magnificent set of stairs, but the lift is very dark and rather off-putting. Once you get past the lift, the Block House is a large, pleasant restaurant with a very...standard steak house menu. They have English menus. The waitresses are excellent. At least 3 of them have been there over 30 years. I had black pepper filet steak which came with a baked potato dressed with sour cream and chives. They had no trouble in cooking the steak well done and in substituting butter for sour cream. My partner substituted chips for the baked potato, but the baked potato was the best choice. The steak was excellent. A large salad comes as standard with the meal and is served with a choice of Italian, French or American dressing. The salad is served first and acts as a starter. I had the French dressing which was delicious. As well as potato, the meal comes with garlic bread, which was the best I have tasted. We had a wonderful bottle of German Rose wine from Kaiserstuhl. The toilets are very clean and there is a charming play area for kids. If you want a plain, well cooked meal this restaurant is a good choice."

we visited this place during a trip through Germany. we were in a gap and wanted a good steak. we chose the blockhouse that was close to our hotel. the service was friendly and efficient, the menus were excellent and the price was fair....Everything in all a good experience, Voir le carte

they may have other dishes than meat, but this is the restaurant if they like steak / bark. it is very well prepared, eating is not very expensive and the staff is friendly. if they could wish something, it would be a better wine...list not many weine to choose and the quality varies.

we visited the weekend lübeck and eat both evenings in the block house. it was very conveniently located (only 2 minutes walk from our hotel,) and our big dog was welcome. a water dish was brought for her immediately. the personal was very. pleasant and the steaks were good. reasonable prices.

I went there for a business meeting. As always a guarantee for good food and good service. Friendly and prompt. You have a nice view of the Trave from the second floor. The steaks are delicious, cooked to order and the meat quality is outstanding....Fresh salad and a nice selection of dressings. I would have appreciated a bit more beer variety but that is a point of contention in a lot of German restaurants as they have a contract with certain breweries and that leads to a lack of beer variety. I had dined at Block House restaurant in Hamburg a few years ago and remembered the excellent steaks. We were passing through Lubeck when we decided to have lunch at Block House. We were not disappointed. We ordered Pepper Steak, rib eye steak and Spinach...pasta for my vegetarian cousin.The steaks were excellent and prepared exactly as ordered; medium well pepper steak and medium rare for rib eye. The meals came with salad which was very fresh and juicy. The baked potatoes with sour cream and chives were excellent. The service was efficient and attentive. Will definitely visit again.

We normally like to visit the Blockhouse restaurants when we are in the northern parts of Germany, but this experience was terrible. Even though there were plenty of tables available we were advised to sit at the bar. We had to wait 20 minutes and...were just about to leave when finally a waitress came to take our order. After we saw some other guests being advised standard dinner tables we asked if we could move since a table right next to us had been available all the time. Yes, we could!?! When finally after a long, long waiting time the salad arrives it had the wrong dressing.
