"What a disappointment. No children's starters, no cheese or soup starters, several main course items not available. We weren't told any of this before ordering, would have been helpful to be told when given menus so we didn't waste time deciding on food choices that weren't available. Asked for wine... they didn't have any, sold out. What we did have was ok, but a touch on the pricey side. Whilst I couldn't complain about what we got, the pub lacked good customer service, when I went to pay the bill the waitress was too busy washing dishes in the kitchen to see so had to go into the bar area to pay. Not sure when they sold out of everything as we were there at 6pm on a Saturday evening and at the time of arrival the only people in the restaurant."

First time since takeover, not disappointed. Steak night which was absolutely delicious followed by two beautiful deserts. The staff were very attentive, well worth a visit. Voir le carte

My husband and I ordered a turkey roast dinner. The service was great and our dinners arrived quickly. The food was delicious, hot and plenty of it. The gravy was sensational, can’t recommend enough.

Horror show. We're here as a large family party for 80th birthday. We've been booked for months and just learned that it's changed owners and the new owners aren't bothered about maintaining bookings. Avoid.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, fab food, plenty choice and very good portions. The interior is very clean and bright whilst the food is good value and of good quality. Have passed many times over the years but only just visited, what a gem definitely worth visiting and will visit again, would certainly recommend. Voir le carte

Fantastic meal at the Wheatsheaf Inn. I contacted the pub on short notice for a table of 10 adults and they were very helpful and got us a table. The food was great, portion sizes were large and food was tasty. The drink choice was also fantastic. However, the highlight of the pub is definitely the staff. All staff members were very hospitable and provided great service. Thanks for a great experience

Having some time to kill in Abbey Town, I was lured in by the sign outside which promised Real Ale . However when I asked what real ales were available, the landlord didn 't even seem to know what a real ale even was. Instead he offered me a pint of keg John Smiths . As I was only there for a quiet afternoon pint, I can 't comment on the food. But after gulping down a very mediocre pint of Strongbow, I left feeling more than a little dissatisfied. If it were not for the false advertising I would have just gone somewhere else which did sell real ale. Service was good. Atmosphere was lacking, and If you are looking for good quality well kept beer, then I am afraid I can 't recommend the Wheats...

"I would have loved to rate our dining experience at the Ivy House a lot higher but we were to leave somewhat disappointed. The dining area was pleasant and intimate with well appointed decor, the waitress and waiters pleasant, polite and attentive. The varied menu looked very appetising with most tastes catered for. We chose two courses from the main menu, the Duck Breast and a Fish Dish for myself. Contrary to other reviews we were to wait over 40 minutes before the food was presented to us. We were not advised of any delays or even the expected length of time we might have to wait. The food on arrival was well presented and flavoursome although I did not consider two small stem broccoli spears a serving. I also asked the waiter why there was no Samphire to accompany my dish as stated on the menu, this comment was also reinforced by a fellow diner who ate the same dish just prior to me. The waiter advised me that he would ask the chef. I did not receive a response to my question during further table service and subsequently asked the waiter again. On returning the waiter advised me the chef said “he will try to remember to put it on next time”, a somewhat disrespectful comment. The Cheese platter we were presented with was lacklustre and sparse, quince jelly and a small dish of chutney being the predominant feature. For ourselves we did not feel that our dining experience represented good value for money."
