"The restaurant had a young and polite staff who were very professional and helpful with the menu. Despite the beef being a bit tough to cut and the plates not being warmed, the rest of the meal was enjoyable. The landlady appeared to be constantly watching us and was a bit abrupt, whereas the landlord was welcoming and lovely. The dessert was delicious."

"Small Cosy Restaurant, BIG on plaudits On the recommendation of a former dance partner, my foodie partner and I travelled to Milnrow, and a pub restaurant called The Waggon Inn. To the locals, this place is often referred to as The Back Waggon. I assume this may be because there is/used to be another place with the same name, but on the main road and close by. Besides the recommendation, I was told you HAVE to book in advance on ANY day of the week. And so Sunday was the day, and the Lunch with a starter (at a very reasonable price) was going to be the order of the day. And so, was pre-booked. This has a different ‘lay-out’ in design to any other restaurant that I have ever visited in the UK or abroad in the last forty to fifty years that I can think of. And it's different enough to add to the appeal of the place as a whole. The place itself is split into three parts, two dining areas with a placing capacity for between fifty and sixty diners. A ‘drinkers/bar section separating the two . This means the diners have easy access to the bar at any time. The concept works really well.. And on the Sunday we visited, the place was FULL with diners, really enjoying their food in this very cosy atmosphere. We both warmed to it straight away. We both decided to have the same starter and main course. Drinks: Sauvignon blanc with soda and ice and Amber lager. My partner commented (and I sampled) on the wine, it was full flavoured, you could almost ‘bite’ into the apple. Very nice indeed. Starter: 2x Homemade Chorizo Manchego Croquettes with a goodly serving of rocket salad Now, this is the first time I have tried Manchego (sheep's milk cheese) Croquettes, but my partner's eyes lit up with the plate before her. Having lived both in the Canary Isles and the USA, she was well accustomed to such dishes. And on first my bite … I have become a fan.. There was nothing left on the plates and that says it all. This wasn’t a ‘starter’ or quick snack as it was quite filling. Main: 2x Traditional Sunday Lunch and we both went for the Roast Lamb and mint sauce. Presented beautifully, this in itself was worth the price on its own. Cooked to perfection with absolutely gorgeous, hot thick gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was done in the traditional way, slightly rounded and very lightly overdone which made the outer crisp whilst the inner nicely soft (and went down a treat). No dessert/sweet this time, we were both too full. Including drinks, less than £35.00, which is excellent value, and first class service to top it off.. Would we come again, try stopping us. The midweek menu also looks far too tempting not to miss out on."

"Don’t eat here if you need gluten free. Our party of 9 had lunch last Sunday, had to pre order before arrival due to our large party. They were advised we had an 1 adult and 1 child gluten free. They couldn’t advise what could be offered gluten free other than chicken Caesar salad. They advised for the child that it lmight be better to bring our own!! On arrival they brought us the menus, seemingly unaware that we had pre ordered. We were told the fish pie, ordered by the gf adult couldn’t be gluten free, he was offered a burger on a gf bun only to be told 2 mins later there were no buns only bread. In the end he had a fillet steak. The child had a chicken dinner. We did ask if the children’s meals could be brought straight away but in the event they only arrived after our starters at 12.50 which was 50 mins after our 12 noon arrival. The food we had was very nice but the overall organisation and provision of gluten free options- despite having forward notice of this- was very poor. If you don’t want to cater for this dietary need that’s fine but you should make that clear when a booking is taken, particularly when you are asking people to pre order. I did contact the Old Bell directly via their website to make them aware of the above points but to date have had no reply."

"We were really looking forward to going to this place as friends had raved about it. I don't know if they were having an off night but it wasn't great!! We were stuck in a back room for 20 minutes and nobody came to take our drinks order or even give us a menu, my husband had to go looking for someone. We were constantly clapping fruit flies. The starters were nice, the main really wasn't. My meal was inedible and my husbands meal was OK but overpriced for what it was. Because we were on our own in the tiny room and just forgotten about most of the night, there was no atmosphere. Bitterly disappointing Our first night out together since having our baby and I can honestly say we won't be returning unfortunately"

"TERRIBLE. Avoid this place at all costs. I had to ask to order drinks ask to order food. My friend asked I for no meat in her pasta and to get mushrooms in replace meat. That was not done even being stated by the server it would be sorted. The chef brought out the food rolling his eyes/ shaking his head and saying how the lad was useless serving the whole table heard this. Food arrived very poor standard I returned my pasta dish due to it having meatballs in this wasn't stated on the menu. I ordered a pizza in replace of the pasta I cut in the chicken to find it raw with blood still in the chicken due to it being uncooked. I returned the meal and said it was poor and uncooked. The chef was very rude and proceeded to raise his voice shaking his head. Very poor quality of food and even poor customer service I have posted on his Facebook page with a reply of: I have a bad attitude and I'm a loud mouth bully I never raised my voice at him the whole time I was in the restaurant and certainly didn't BULLY him The lad serving was constantly apologising and the way the chef spoke to that lad was disgusting Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20"
