"We have visited this pub a few times as a meeting point with friends. It has been okay in the past, but our recent experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival, we were told to wait at the reception desk, but no one attended to us. Eventually, a staff member rudely called us up to the bar and pointed out our table (rather than escorting us there). The service was slow and inefficient, making us feel like a burden. Staff members were seen chatting at the bar, paying little attention to the customers. Our wine was brought to us late, only halfway through our meal after repeated reminders. Dessert also took 35 minutes to arrive after we had requested it multiple times. The curry that my husband and I ordered was bland and featured undercooked chicken. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience."

Absolutely loads of gluten free options, Very quick service, lovely and very accommodating staff, and great atmosphere. Very much a traditional (rather than gastro) pub, but does what it does really well, and at very reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning.

If you’re hoping for a warm welcome don’t bother at this establishment!! The woman greeting guests was rude and unfriendly and clearly needs some training in customer relations!! Her attitude was so awful that it made us leave immediately!! We moved 400 meters down the road to The Churchill where we had a much warmer reception.

Given an hour slot, ordering took 20 mins and the place was empty bar one table. Told time was up as another couple had arrived and waitress wanted table. THE PUB WAS EMPTY. Very poor. Food wasn't practically good either especially when they start hoovering the carpet whilst we were eating. New management has broken what was ok. Voir le carte

My experience at the restaurant tonight was truly terrible. I had made a reservation for Christmas dinner for two, only to be told upon arrival that they had over 1000 Christmas bookings and didn't have time to accommodate ours, so we couldn't have the Christmas menu. Scampi and pie just aren't the same as what we had been looking forward to for our special meal.

Lovely, friendly helpful staff such a pleasure and hard to find these days! Easy to park. Good food, great selection including vegetarian and vegan. Lots of food and tasty. My only tiny gripe is the amount of garlic used. It over powered my Haloumi salad, it didn’t mention garlic and I’m not a fan. Wouldn’t stop me visiting, would just opt for something different.

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
