"It's a good pub... it doesn't always feel as though the key staff have the best people skills... but that may just be me. Have to say that my last meal up there was very good. It seems to have come up a notch. Beers and drinks, I'd say, are top end in terms of pricing. BUT, it is still going ... for that one has to be thankful. Wrt atmosphere, it, like any other pub is, a bit hit and miss. With 4 reception areas, it does take some filling for the atmosphere to generate, but when it is good, it is good. The pub does put on a very good music festival each year in the summer."

The Rockfest end of July is a must. Bit pricey for drinks tho.

The atmosphere is lovely, the food is great, and the service is friendly. We only regret that we were so caught up in conversation that we missed out on dessert. We would definitely return.

No one checked to see if meal okay. The roast chicken was dry and hard not edible. Vegetables not as good as normal. When the plates were collected we made a comment about the chicken, nothing.! Voir le carte

This is a lovely restaurant with a large parking lot, making it convenient for groups to meet. The food is your typical pub fare, decent but unremarkable. The staff are wonderful, attentive, and friendly.

We’ve eaten here on several occasions over the years and never been disappointed. This time we were accompanied by our son’s family. All our meals were exceptional and, in particular, the lasagne which came with chips and a lovely salad, and the steak ale pie which was amazing. Thoroughly recommended!

Friendly service a nice atmosphere, however the food was pretty average not worth the price in my opinion. Salmon dry pretty tasteless, also a bit minimalist! Burger was certainly average, thin dried out in a bun with a bit of basic salad, came with chips that were bordering on undercooked. Decided not to bother with desserts after that, shame. Expensive for what it is! Went for sunday lunch and had the meat platter , which is essentially 3 slices of meat with some potatoes and a side salad. Potatoes are listed as crispy they 're not. Pork was dry, and beef looked like it had been sat on the plate for about a week. Partner had the steak and ale pie, was OK, but had clearly been microwaved as the pastry was soggy. Disappointed and won 't be back.

I didn't dine at The Rock Inn because I was participating in an 18-mile charity walk to raise money for breast cancer. The Rock Inn was approached to provide refreshments for our group of 80 walkers midway through our journey, and they were incredibly friendly, polite, and provided efficient service. Although I only had tea and coffee, others in the group had food that looked very appetizing. Thank you to The Rock Inn for accommodating us.

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
