Can not understand reviewer who say they are regulars then post a bad review....! Excellent food and service. Somewhat challenging roads to get in and out of village.

Great food and excellent service. Following a break trying other restaurants in the area, we were welcomed and treated to a very pleasurable evening. Certainly be returning in the near future.

3 of us visited the malt shovel due to another pub we love being to busy we phoned to make sure they were dog friendly and serving food. We were no disappointed they looked after us straight away. I visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch and it was exceptional. The Biscoff cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were the perfect ending to the meal. Despite being very busy with large groups, the service was outstanding. All the staff were polite and the food was brought out quickly and piping hot. I am looking forward to coming back again soon!

fantastic eating, beautiful atmosphere and so friendly and helpful staff. our family of 5 plus the lawn and a foreign visitor enjoyed all their Sunday dinners! the Gnocchi star was a real hit and the tender roast beef was delicious. around it from my...crème brûlée with shortbread was yummy our youngs are all teens, but if they have small, the outdoor play park seemed a real hit.

Visited for my moms birthday as a family of 12. Unfortunately the food has really gone downhill and with so many better restaurants/pubs in the surrounding areas the Malt Shovel needs to improve. The once superb homemade chips tasted of stale oil, chicken dry, steak...burgers over cooked. As it was my moms birthday and our first family get together in years we decided not to make a fuss. Today we hosted a wake at The Malt Shovel for our best friend and it was an incredible experience. The pub went above and beyond to make it unforgettable and respectful. They allowed us to decorate both inside and outside, and even accommodated us for a nighttime event. The food was fantastic and everyone raved about how delicious it was. The staff were extremely attentive, ensuring all of our dietary needs were met and providing delicious meals. A big thank you to the entire team for making this very sad day a memorable experience to celebrate the life of our friend.

We decided to stop by The Maltshovel for a quick Christmas Day drink and ended up staying for a couple of hours because we were warmly welcomed. The bar had a lovely atmosphere and was very comfortable and cozy. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and it was a nice touch to see them in Christmas jumpers and even a Christmas suit. We were happy we stopped by and decided to return on Boxing Day for a party with a live singer. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the singer really got everyone in the Christmas spirit. The food was delicious, hot, and well presented. The owners have truly made the pub a hidden gem. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

must be a secret place for the midday as we were the only ones. but had a wonderful meal and though more expensive than the last time that we were there, my dads adage came back, they get what they pay. it had undergone a renovation. after our previous visit (cheeiß, 2 years because of covid and now definitiw is a raised environment and made with taste! the starter of the prawn cocktails was fabulous with brown brot and butter and the main course of bier broken fish was so big that he overlapped the huge plate, served with special 'mindered brunettes, fried fresh lemon and wetar with 3.fried chips that not only woke my taste buds, but said that it was your birthday. a fabulous meal, well pre...
