"We have visited several times in the past and typically enjoy Sunday lunch here when visiting family in Somerset. On this occasion, we were a party of eleven, including small children and elderly grandparents, so our hosts' decision to allocate us the entire event space was both convenient for us and no doubt beneficial to their other Sunday lunch customers who probably didn't want to endure a noisy family reunion! Although not required, we chose to order in advance, and everything came to the table precisely as requested. As has been the case on all previous visits, the food was excellent, with all meals served virtually simultaneously, fresh and hot. Special dietary needs, including delicious vegan and allergen-free options, were available. Our servers were very polite, attentive and responsive, never rushing us and allowing us to relax and enjoy family time together. The event space included free access to the bowling alley which was a lot of fun and we left entirely satisfied after an almost four hour visit. We will definitely be visiting again on our next visit and would highly recommend this lovely place."

We made a reservation for a table for four, and all four of us enjoyed a fantastic lunch. The server, a cheerful lady, provided great service. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

We had a wonderful lunch at this pub. The staff was extremely friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to others and will be returning in the future.

Went for an evening meal on a Tuesday, it was busy but they managed to fit us in. The food was lovely with bigger then expected portions. They staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

The food at this restaurant is exceptional and expertly prepared. The service is outstanding. The only minor complaint we have is that we are not fans of wooden serving plates, but that is just a personal preference. Voir le carte

The dinner tasted nice, all but the potatoes were a bit too too hard crispy, ! The waitress asked if we wanted any sauces,so we told her what sauces we wanted ,but she never came back,so we were a bit disappointed about that ! Good atmosphere

Visited The Duck today and must say thank you to the gentleman behind the bar (sorry I didn’t get your name), the service you provided was exceptional. All our meals were excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this place. If I lived nearby I would definitely be returning.

After a couple of poor meals, we had stopped coming to this place (used to really enjoy it for five years ago, when it was excellent . We have been told it was good again so tried once more. The food was disappointing; Sunday lunch was swimming in way, too much gravy, so that all you could taste was gravy (why not serve it in a jug, so we can pour ourselves?? and the sort of roast that is ok a free a few pints but nothing special otherwise. We were seated in the ‘snug’ which is anything but a windowless, charmless room perhaps better described as the bunker, we were all relieved to emerge from it at the end, full but wishing we’d gone somewhere else instead. This place was recommended by a friend for both the location and food Unfortunately, we never got the chance to sample the food as no table was available. We had read on the website that for tables of 8 or more you needed to phone and book (and pay a deposit). Being part of a local bike group, we hold monthly pub meetings and are always keen to support local independent eateries This evening there was 7 of us, so no need to book as per the website. The car park had plenty of space and there seemed to be lots of available tables.... including the beer garden outside where there was only 1 x couple sitting. It was early (6pm) and weather was perfect to eat outside. It wasn't the fact that ther...

We've been before but nit recently. On arrival entering the restaurant we were greeted by a warm, light decor, lovely soft coloured brick walls that exude peacefulness. What a great start to our lunch. The male host was very cheery and allowed us to choose a table as we were a little early. Once seated the menus were brought and the host explained the menu. I was unsure what condition was and because of his manner, felt confident in asking him. We had starters of bread and olives. The bread was warm and chunky and the balsamic vinegar to die for as was very thick and full of flavour. The main course of confit of duck with bean casulait. A whole duck leg cooked in various spices with the casu...

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."

"Went here for the Sunday carvery which at £10 is one of the cheapest I know in the area. Large car park with a few pot holes easily avoided; it is a short walk back to the pub so I dropped my disabled mother off right outside then went to park. There are a couple of outdoor seating areas available, a swing and a trampoline for kids should the weather suit. A smoking bin is provided outside by the door for anyone needing it. Inside the pub is in the style of a traditional English country pub, extensive seating flows away to the left of the entrance with a smaller bar area on the right; leading through to what looks like a function room with large screen on the wall. I also noticed a poker table folded away so I’m guessing there are or have been some games evenings at some stage. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, greeted with a smile and an immediate offer of a drink. It wasn’t long before we were invited up to the carvery to get our food; our table being situated in the first part of the seating area to the left of the entrance by a log fire sadly not lit but it wasn’t that cold. There was a decent selection on the carvery with meat options including Turkey and beef or a nut roast. They also cater for gluten free which is great! The food itself on the carvery wasn’t too good, I found the parsnips hard, the roast potatoes were okay a little tough and the Turkey was a bit dry. The gravy, veg and pigs in blankets were lovely though. For dessert I had the apple crumble with pouring cream, it was okay, a little tasteless and could have done with some sugar I guess for taste. The coffee after was very good. There is free Wi-Fi available with no password required just select the BT guest option, agree to their terms and conditions and you’re in. The pub is also dog friendly which is great! Based on this experience I wouldn’t come back for the carvery but I would like to try the normal menu on another day. The pub and staff overall are great."
