"This looks like a lovely place but unfortunately we arrived as it was getting dark on a misty day. Would love to have arrived on a warm sunny with time for a drink outside before dinner. I’m trying to eat better these days and choose this place because they seemed to have a couple of starter and main vegan dishes. On arriving we were greeted nicely. And given a decent table although on my side I was somewhat in the way of a busy thoroughfare. As much as I liked the place and the staff there were a couple of issues: of the two vegan options I was told that they could not provide one of them because it took a little extra work (for proper mash if I heard correctly) and they were too busy. Apparently, I should have ordered that in advance although it says nothing on the menu on Facebook (could n’t find a website). Their second “vegan” option was a risotto with asparagus and pea and, hang on, parmesan. Clearly a substitute had not been considered. As it stood, the meal was very bland but I was too hungry not to eat it. Mum’s chicken and ham pasta dish was nice she said but nothing special. If I was not restricting my diet I would definitely try this place again though, the stuff arriving at other tables looked great, but if you are vegan I would probably ring the chef and ask about the dishes available. One other thing, no WiFi. When I asked at the bar one girl was just about to say something positive I think from the look on her face but a slightly older girl spoke over her to tell her there was no public WiFi. Funny, I thought I was a paying customer. It was a shame as there was no phone signal being so remote and there was a big game on!!! So summarising what is meant as constructive feedback it is clear that the vegan options need improving and that as a business this place needs to come into the modern day by getting a web site with more customer info and very importantly customer Wi-Fi (who does n’t have that these days? I thought the prices were very reasonable, but then again I live down south now so might not have the best local context. Hope that helps and I’ll see you another time."

Good place for a family meal. Some of the portions were huge! The food was not wasted, we enjoyed our boxed “doggy bags”later.

Meal out with mum. I ordered lamb shank. It was inedible. So tough I litetally couldn't get my knife into, tough as old boots. Worst lamb I've ever been served. I reported to waitress who was helpful 50% deducted off price of lamb dish. This is the second time I've eaten here recently and both times not great. I won't be going back.

The food was lovely l the service was efficient.. however we were not impressed vy the front of house staff behind the bar.. they were busily debating what they should wear as a uniform, more importantly one of them swore and twice we heard who was going for a wee not appropriate to share with customers . Black chinos and a black shirt for front of house staff . Not overly sure we will come again . Voir le carte

Only one option available on a Sunday for vegetarians which was sausages I explained to the waitress that I didn’t like sausages and asked if there was anything else in the menu I could have she went and asked the chef who’s response was simply no , I asked if I could possibly have the vegetarian lasagna as I know this is pre cooked and was told no it was sausage or nothing needless to say we left , the restaurant was quite and I explained I was happy to wait if I could have another option. Bar staff were lovely and very helpful, will not be returning.

Love the look overall, but tables all rammed when it’s so busy it’s far too loud. Waitresses kept being wrong food too us, brought wrong starters out too. Says no where about ordering at the bar (food or drink) very confusing about as much at the front of house staff. Veg were underdone, if you’re gonna do this have better knifes on the tables. Roast Beef should fall off the fork, was tough. Yorkshire Puddings looked the bees knees until you find it’s just air no fluffy sponginess, they were like they’d been cooked previous day warmed up. Staff never asked if we’d like another drink, you’re loosing the chance for more business. No Goodbye from Staff. Not shockingly bad but makes you think tw...

Called in mid afternoon on a a Thursday 2nd week in Jan (been many times before when passing) Noticed many tables had reserved on them and only a few left for persons like us who were just passing. managed to find a nice table for 2 and both ordered the steak pie, nothing wrong here just fantastic pie all eatable meat. Only complaint, (okay I know its hard to deliver good top quality food when not many people in) the chips and veg were just luke warm but the new boiled pots, the wife cut into one and put it in her mouth, out came a scream followed by a swear word and then drunk half of her drink, the pots were almost boiling, just short of scoldering her mouth. I wonder if it is a new Chef a... Voir le carte

We visited today as a family of 12 for a birthday celebration. We have visited several times before and always rated the food and service but on this occasion we were extremely disappointed. We felt we were greeted with rudeness on arrival from the woman behind the bar. When she came to take our order, we weren’t quite ready at which point she seemed annoyed and told us that we only had 2 hours for the table because it was a Sunday. When the food arrived, they placed the very hot side dishes in front of very young children and even passed the food directly over my 3 year old’s head. At this point he started crying and we realised they had dripped scalding hot gravy onto his head. We understa...

A family Sunday lunch booked for 6 plus child made nearly 3 weeks prior to the booking, with a request for a table next to or in the same room as the panoramic views from the restaurant area. Explained to us on the telephone there were no guarantees but a note would be made of our request. On arrival we were entirely opposite our request, facing a wall and next to the busy footfall of the kitchen/ front of house servery door. The service was good. The food…. is not consistent, we’ve had better before. It’s difficult in the catering industry to make a profit corners have had to be cut ways to conserve energy costs etc. all part of the profit margin. Cooked vegetables the degree of ‘crunch’ os...

"Really nice pub would return if i lived in the area. Visited for a beer and some food with wife and infant daughter, large carpark, is located at the top of the hill, staff and the locals were very welcoming. Nice selection of ales lagers and spirits. Restaurant section looked to be closed, but the lounge was bright and modern finish. Pub menu was served as per the website but they had a nice choice of specials. Had the special starter peri peri chicken samosa with pickled molis, perfect balance of curried samosa, sharp pickled mooli and spicey peri, came with an interesting almost experimental bread and charcoal garlic butter, mmm yummy main was a wholesome hearty gaint yorkshire brimmed with onion gravey and sausages dressed with a herby oil and fries on the side, was perfectly portioned for a big fella like me, may be too much for some, but a brilliant meal. Finished off with a white chocolate raspberry blondie, with a tart raspberry coolis and custard. Wife had the burger was thick and tasty, nicely seasoned. Daughter had a big portion of fish fingers and chips. Table services was efficient and friendly. Locals were nice to talk to aswell. We all left happy and full, would recommend. Parking: Big lot next to the pub would fit about 12 designated drivers Kid-friendliness: Had kids chair available, changing facilities in the disabled, large selection on the kids menu. Friendly staff, welcomed kids as well as adult.
