"Having booked direct with Angela at Wooder Manor, I made the short, pretty walk along the main road, past the sheep in the Churchyard to the Rugglestone Inn. The place was heaving but there was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and I was quickly shown to my seat in the corner of the bar by the fireplace. Everyone was being served in order without fuss. Vanessa and her team remembered people's names, what they were drinking and cheerfully welcomed and squeezed in anyone walking in without a booking. The fish pie and ginger pudding were both excellent but the way that the place is run enables locals to have a chat and drink whilst visitors eat meaning that this place seems to work for everyone. Will definitely be back. Ed H."

"The setting is picturesque, but unfortunately, the owners are rude and arrogant. We walked through the pay-and-display car park, and while the owner was busy clearing the main drains, he completely ignored our greeting of "Good Afternoon." There were goats fenced in to keep them away from the river. However, we decided to cut through the picnic tables to take a look at the river and dip our toes in. To our dismay, a woman in the café window shot us a fierce glare with her hands on her hips. I returned her glare, and she angrily stomped away. On our way back, I tried saying "Good Afternoon" again, but all I received was a huff from the owner. At that point, we decided to leave and enjoy a delicious cream tea in Widecombe instead. It’s a real shame that this once charming tea room has lost its warmth and character. So, if you’re looking for a delightful experience from the past, think again!"

"The first disappointment was the £2 parking charge and there was very little parking otherwise available. This was extremely dog friendly with 3 well behaved animals that easily made their way between the clean and tidy tables/chairs as their owners found empty spaces in the spacious dining area. Despite the number of young people seated behind the counter, one had to go to the counter to place an order. The friendly staff were not long in bringing our order to the table. We had a Brie brown baguette accompanied with a leaf salad and apple juice and soup with a Cappucino that came to just over £23.00. All of the food was tasty and ample."

"Can't beat this pub for ambience, beer and delights tasting food. We had the gluten free fish and chips which never fail to wow. Their best dish is the steak pie or chicken pie eaten next to the roaring fire on a cold enters day. Staff are very friendly and dogs are as welcome as the humans. Plenty of parking behind the pub, but you might have to pay if the pub carpark is full- check out the old Church across the road after you've had a pint or two"

"Dining here was an absolutely delightful experience! The atmosphere was beautiful. I ordered the ink fish catcher and the cake of the day, both of which were delicious. The waiter was attentive, polite, and friendly. Despite his mostly serious expression, he had a warm smile. As always, this place is stunning and definitely worth a visit. Additionally, they seem to welcome dogs, and their outdoor area is lovely."
