"Thank you to the Old Inn. We are not locals but every time we visit, the pub feels homely and clean, also the service is just so warm. I have been gluten free for over 15 years and so my pub meals are invariably steak, gammon or ham and eggs. What a joy to have gluten-free, crispy, battered fish with delicious chips. I know that you have been serving this for years because I have been eating it for years and every time, it is delicious. Please don't change."

We sat outside in the lovely garden, plenty of sun or shade, beautiful trees, birds singing. Service food excellent, beer too.

Didn't get to have a meal... But what a beautiful old pub. Lovely sunroom out the back or when the weather is right a huge outdoor area. Lovely.

Visited with friends for lunchtime. The food choice was excellent and quality 1st class. Well worth going out of your way to enjoy a lovely meal. The desserts were 'to die for '!!

Food was very porly done, beef burgers tasted like pork and came rare, sunday roast meat was made of chewing gum and all forms of potatoes were hard yet somehow soggy rather then crispy. Voir le carte

Every couple of years we travel down from London and visit Widecombe. The old in never fails to impress. Great staff and wonderful food. The best French onion soup available in this corner of the universe. Impeccable service.

Looks small from front, but large extension at rear. Good food, not the cheapest though thought main dishes were a little overpriced. Bar staff seemed to know their trade (for change) as got both orange lemon in sloe peddler the espresso Martini was fab

Went here for lunch. We were made very welcome by all the staff who were working. The menu is good pub food with enough options for everyone to find something they like. The food was lovely and we both agreed the portions were definitely on the large side but very reasonably priced. Surroundings were lovely and also very clean. Beer garden is nice to sit in. Lovely location, but very hot weather impacted the experience. More ventilation or air conditioning is needed in the conservatory area. Attentive staff were very efficient and professional. We ended up in the shade of the garden, but would not want to eat outside because of smokers. A memorable family event with many good things but currently unusual hot weather rather ruined things.

What a fantastic pub! We popped in after a little trip on Dartmoor on a very warm day. Lovely and cool inside and were given a warm welcome and seated straight away. Glad we got there at opening time as it soon filled up including the ample seating in large garden. A tasty G&T for myself and lager for my husband and we were ready to order. I had a beautiful Ploughman's with a side order of chips or what I prefer to call heaven in chip form

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
