"Went to try toward the end of the first week following the reopening. The place looks so much better and the idea of taking away the small bar and increasing the dining area was a great idea. Food was nice, longish wait for it, tasty...enough and hot. The main bar has been redecorated but suffers the problem of the old Barley Mow, where the ‘hard drinking locals’ set themselves up at the bar and make it impossible for anyone else to get served. In fact they just wave their glasses and you get ignored. As I said, nice enough but until they sort out the bar, we will not be rushing back."

Such fun places to eat and talk to local people. We loved this one and visited it twice. Staff and locals made us feel like we were right at home.

The Barley Mow is a lovely traditional pub for locals who want to relax with a beer of an evening. They offer a lovely menu and host many events including bike meets and quiz nights.

Decided to visit on the first day of opening and I'm gobsmacked. Food is fresh and tasty everyone is wellcoming and it's decently priced couldn't find a fault with the place if I tried. The New management have knocked it out the park

I had Friday afternoon. a lot of choice, delicious food and drink and very good service. the pub was recently reworked and the restaurant area is very pleasant. I have always supported this pub because it is our local, but I think it is now. even more of a wealth for our village. highly recommended.

the first meal was in a group of eight. everyone was very happy with his meals and eating all came at the same time. friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. second lunch on Sunday afternoon. we had a roast beef and a roast chicken with cauliflower cheese... next to everything again very good, I would recommend a visit.

Thought we'd give the revamped pub a try ... If you are prepared to wait for all the old regulars to be served before you, even when they turn up after you, I'm sure it would be great..... Same reason it was not a welcoming...place before Looks a lot better...but that's where the changes end. Shame. A wasted opportunity.....

service was good, unfortunately the meal was not, my partner and I ordered the bratpork, the filling was the size of a marble and hard, the carrots were overcooked, the bratkartoffeln were not so good, the gravy was probably granulat from a dose and as demanded for some...apple sauce was said that no available. in general very disappointed.

Unaware that the pub wasn't doing food, either from information on their website or on the board outside advertising food, we had committed ourselves to buying a drink before being told that there was no food available which was disappointing. Covid hygiene measures were...in place and the lady behind the bar was pleasant. It is, however a place I wouldn't return to.

have visited a few times since the renovation only for drinks, where we are always welcome to make good choices to reasonable trips. Yesterday we decided to have dinner and what a brilliant choice we have met. the steak of my mannes was perfectly cooked with the most amazing. tweebel rings we have seen, my fish and chips were delicious, crispy and an absolute big bite of eating. we will definitely return and cannot wait to try other joys on the menu. we love that we can also take our dog in the bar. very recommended this village pub, great atmosphere, good food, good value.

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
