had the pleasure to eat here a few weeks after a recommendation and it was not disappointed. eating was amazing, so fresh and tasty and the presentation was incredible. define one of the best, unless they don't like sushi.

The only truly worthwhile sushi place in Edinburgh. Every dish is fresh, delicious and authentic. Grilled aubergine with miso will tempt you away from salmon nigiri and takoyaki is a must. Great service, decent prices and a wide menu simply the best.

I have had a lot of sushi in my time and this experience has had me rethink whether all the ones before were the real thing. The bill is a touch on the pricey side compared to most sushi joints in Edinburgh, but you can’t deny that Kanpai is a step above the rest. This is a great place to go if you have a special celebration, or just fancy giving yourself a well deserved treat. For a high quality sushi selection, Kanpai is definitely the way to go.

my partner and I had an absolutely amazing lunch there. we have ordered a few maki, rolls and roasted squid. so delicate fish and all foods were combined with perception and care. service was great, our tassen were often filled with water. loved the small hauch of care even some ice cubes and lemon fell into the water. it is quite expensive, but it is absolutely worth it!

I had high expectations of kanpai, because I had heard so big things. my friend and I have booked a last minute table, but because it was a Tuesday night, they managed to impress us; kanpai is very popular and can be very busy. the interieur has a similar feeling as the Japanese izakaya with its hidden rooms and its secluded dining room feeling. after intense viewing of the menu (and I finally give up and allow that to choose sam) we decided on the takoyaki octopus fish cake, lachs nigiri, thunfisch nigiri, lachs and avocado maki, a drachenrolle and kanpais special sashimi combo. everything comes when it's done, which means we haven't been left too long without food. the Tayoyako Octopus tab...
