"my husband had a business lunch there and raved about it.we went there alone and then with some relatives.the place is like going to your grandfather`s living room. the owner is the chef and the wife and daughter staff. they were all friendly and quite accomodating and customer friendly.we really like the authentic daily menu picked out by the owner and the food is fresh and great.we have been to Japan and this food is very very close to being there again!we would go back again and again.Good job.it is located in a place that is hard to find but it is away from a lot of other things which is also nice.we look forward to going back and to tell friends about this gem!"

Very basic interior, but authentic food, personal. Wasabi on everything! Homemade green tea ice as an extra from the chef.

The dishes are quiet similar to Japanese ones. I feel like being at Tokyo. The cook and his wife are so kind. Wanna visit there again when be back to Hamburg.

This restaurant does not look like much, but don't let the interior fool you. The food is excellent it is authentic Japanese cuisine and the service is very good and super friendly. I recommend this as a must if you are in Hamburg

This place won't win any awards for stylish furniture but it's food is just so real Japan. Try the Yakatori chicken, Tuna sashimi lightly seared in a light soy sauce with ginger and spring onions, the squid sashimi, mixed sushi, crispy fried squid with 3 different sauces. Great ambiance and the chef is available for suggestions. Great value!

this is a place that unless u know about it, u cannot find it.it is a mom and pop place where the owner is the chef and his wife the hostess plus sometimes family members who are waitresses.. the dinner menu is great. we never know what we are getting but love the surprise it is like eating with family... the decor have not changed since the 60´s , it seems but we love the family and we love the foodwe are always welcomed as family and they are very hospitable.

This restaurant may appear to be located in the middle of nowhere, however the food was great. What a nice surprise to find authentic, delicious Japanese food in Hamburg. The menu goes beyond just sushi and the variety was quite something. The service was great too - the staff, especially the lady who seemed to be running the restaurant, were incredibly friendly and created a nice atmosphere, despite the bland decor. The prices were a little on the high side, but worth it.

As a Japanese-food-fanatic I can tell you this is such a great place to try. The cook is right in front of you, you can check out his skills. The food was VERY fresh, I tried the tempura (fish and veggies) and it wasn't greasy as you would expect with tempura and the fish, hmmm, just melted in the mouth. Nice tea, high quality real green Japanese sencha. Yes, high prices, around 18€ for one main dish and a tea, but I would come again.The service was fantastic and very attentive, a bit slow because the girl was by herself, but I don't mind, I come to enjoy, no rush. They speak good english, japanese and german :)They accept credit cards!

A little bit out of the way, this nondescript little gem is absolutely fantastic!A family run affair, husband in the whites and wife front of house (with the help of the daughters and possibly granddaughters?).We had a mix of maki and nigiri and all was absolutely top drawer, so fresh and with a dollop of PROPER wasabi, not green mustard like you get in most places. Followed by some fantastic tempura and cleansing green tea ice-cream we would have happily paid twice the EUR50 we were charged (including sake and a couple of beers).Don't be put off by the decor, which is admittedly a little tired, these guys do it for the love of food not for the glitz.
