"Last night in Oban, my friends and I decided to take a stroll along the waterfront despite the rain. After a while, we couldn't resist the tempting smell of hot chips and decided to grab a quick snack. The staff behind the counter were friendly and shared some information about their business with us. We ended up trying haggis, black pudding, and of course, some chips. Despite the lack of fish, the meal was delicious and the chips were especially good. We noticed a picture of Rick Stein on the wall praising the fish and chips, so we knew we were in for a treat. We happily ate our snacks as we continued along the waterfront, planning to return for dinner later that evening."

"Oddly enough, the food and service were both very good. Our complaint was that there were 6 adults and 4 children and we were charged a £36 service charge, which I felt unjustified. On asking for this to be removed to then give my own tip) the waitress's reaction was anything but customer friendly and definitely spoiled what up to then had been a nice meal out. In my view charging a service charge for over 6 people, should only be for adults."

"I also noticed a trend of online complaints regarding slow service, not just at Baab but across various restaurants. I suspect that many foreign tourists in Europe might expect an American-style dining experience, whereas establishments like Baab offer a European dining ambiance that tends to be more leisurely and indulgent. While it can feel a bit slow at times, I believe it's worth embracing that experience. It's worth mentioning that Baab is a Mediterranean restaurant located in the Scottish Highlands—a delightful surprise! After three weeks of heavy pub fare and fine multi-course European dining, we appreciated the refreshing change in ingredients, flavors, and pacing of the meal at Baab. We approached our meal with the expectation of a slower pace and were pleased that it was neither too slow nor lacking in flavor. I wholeheartedly recommend Baab, especially if you're looking for a break from typical Scottish cuisine. As for vegetarian options, they offer plenty, and all allergens are clearly listed on the menu. Parking is also a breeze with ample street parking available."
