"Had recently seen posts on Facebook regarding this restaurant having new management and thought we'd pop in pre-film. Visited on Saturday night (7th May) with my family, booked a table well in advance, were greeted very nicely upon entry which always makes things a lot nicer. Upon seating we noticed that something wasn't quite right, the restaurant was pretty much full, the most full we've seen it in a long while to be honest, partway through us ordering our drinks the manager went into the kitchen we assumed to speak with his kitchen team, he didn't come back out through the duration of our meal. We could see the cooks trying their hardest and we knew that the wait on our food would be a while. Me and my daughter watched the cooks and observed the team, working in hospitality myself I am more aware, filling in for one another. The place where the manager was somebody had replaced, another manager was speaking to tables. In summary, we waited long, but we knew about it in advance, the food was good when it eventually came, the manager did come around towards the end of our meal and spoke to us at length regarding the issue that had led to the events and his honesty was refreshing, the team were obviously strained however there were still smiles, sounds of laughter, overall the service was great, food was good, communication was brilliant. The only negative was an older couple at the entrance being extremely rude when told they couldn't be seated, which the female manager dealt with very well may I add. Will return for sure. Well done!"

"We attended the barn restaurant for Christmas Day Lunch as we have every year for the last 6 years. Lovely atmosphere with great Christmas vibe but that’s as good as it got. Service was incredibly slow and food was just not what we have experienced before. Potatoes were rock hard and salty as were the vegetables. The turkey was cold, thick cut and dry and the stuffing looked like it had been turned out from a can of dog sheeba. The melon to start were great. I had already paid a deposit of £150 and was greeted with a further bill of in excess £500 for 5 adults. My mum had two mouthfallls and couldn’t eat anymore. My mum has the start of Alzheimer’s and we didn’t want a fuss but surely the waiter could have seen by the way very little was eaten by any of us and asked if there was a problem. He didn’t. That evening, I emailed a letter to Guiseppe the owner who replied quite rudely with complacency and arrogance insisting they were the best and not taking on board our polite constructive criticism. We were not looking for freebies just acceptance of our experience and maybe a simple apology. He suggested they open as a service with no profit in the event. I’m sorry at £85 per head I don’t buy that and if your usual standard or quality cannot be sustained then I suggest you shouldn’t do it. I’m sure many people enjoyed it and to them it was acceptable but to me and my family the experience was the worst we have experienced with you. So after many years of giving our custom to you, it is the last and could have been resolved with a simple apology. You say you have been in business over 30 years and obviously know it all so best regards and let’s see how many more years you trade with the attitude and arrogance you gave to me."

"We visit the lovely farm shop approximately twice weekly, the farm shop is excellently well stocked, with a fruit and vegetable ‘cart’ that is a lovely riot of colours, a very well stocked cheese counter, friendly and helpful butchers. However for me the absolute best is the truly artisan bakery! Freshly baked loaves, rolls, baguettes and pastries, the cake display looks absolutely scrumptious . However someone really needs to take a serious review of the coffee house. The staff are helpful and friendly and the ambiance is lovely, overlooking an apple orchard. We took the family for breakfast recently and both myself and my son ordered smoked salmon with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. My order had a huge mound of brown tinged smoke salmon hidden by the poached egg that was absolutely horrible (so bad I couldn’t eat it). My son thankfully had pink, fresh smoked salmon. How can your chef even consider to serve? I only fortunately ate one forkful. I also am at a loss as to why the cake display in the coffee shop is so boring and drab when you have a fantastic range of delicious freshly baked cakes in your bakery next door? Why do you sell stale (previously frozen) scones when you have a bakery making delicious cakes? We have decided we will continue to shop in your farm shop, but will sadly no longer visit your coffee house."
