"Had recently seen posts on Facebook regarding this restaurant having new management and thought we'd pop in pre-film. Visited on Saturday night (7th May) with my family, booked a table well in advance, were greeted very nicely upon entry which always makes things a lot nicer. Upon seating we noticed that something wasn't quite right, the restaurant was pretty much full, the most full we've seen it in a long while to be honest, partway through us ordering our drinks the manager went into the kitchen we assumed to speak with his kitchen team, he didn't come back out through the duration of our meal. We could see the cooks trying their hardest and we knew that the wait on our food would be a while. Me and my daughter watched the cooks and observed the team, working in hospitality myself I am more aware, filling in for one another. The place where the manager was somebody had replaced, another manager was speaking to tables. In summary, we waited long, but we knew about it in advance, the food was good when it eventually came, the manager did come around towards the end of our meal and spoke to us at length regarding the issue that had led to the events and his honesty was refreshing, the team were obviously strained however there were still smiles, sounds of laughter, overall the service was great, food was good, communication was brilliant. The only negative was an older couple at the entrance being extremely rude when told they couldn't be seated, which the female manager dealt with very well may I add. Will return for sure. Well done!"

"I had low expectations when I decided to book a last-minute Mother’s Day meal at Zizzi’s. With my dad recently passing away, I wanted to take my mum out for a change of scenery. Despite not having our reservation, we were seated at a dirty table. The seafood platter was disappointing, as it was oily and soggy. Our main courses were hit and miss, with my salmon being dry and tasteless. The service was slow and the staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. The restaurant itself was dirty and unkempt. Overall, I was hoping for a clean and friendly experience but left feeling disappointed and out of pocket. £105 for 3 people was not worth it."

"I took my fiancé ' to the Tunbridge Wells Eating House on Saturday night and we both really enjoyed it. The décor is lovely although we had one of the only tables with just chairs which was a bit annoying as I usually like to offer the cushioned bench seat to her but this is a very minor niggle that is personal to me. Overall the service was great although I did notice the adjacent table had to wave for the waitress to get her attention but I believe that was to pop outside for a cigarette so they were likely being slightly impatient anyway. I had a sausage roll starter and venison pie for main and she had olives and rump steak which was all very very tasty and as my fiancé is pregnant they made here a lovely raspberry and lime mocktail which was really to our liking. I 'm sure we 'll be heading back there soon for dinner, lunch /or breakfast again at some point."

"The Woodcock Inn has undergone a tasteful extension to the rear of the property. I've known this inn for the last 25years and the latest changes have significantly improved the facilities. We had lunch there today with some of our old neighbours that live in Iden Green. The restaurant is a mixture of pub grub and gastropub food. It was busy with many customers but both the waiting staff and kitchen struggled. Customers did not receive enough attention and food was slow to come from the kitchen. The food we had was good but we all agreed that the serving of skinny french fries instead of chunky chips was a mistake. Two of us had the ham, egg and chips and the other two had chicken gyro. Ham was very good both in terms of amount and quality, eggs were over cooked (not enough care in the kitchen) and the chips needed to be chunky. The chicken gyro was a hit with both our ladies but again let down by the chips. So our score was 10 out of 10 for ambiance and surroundings, 8 out of 10 for the food but only 6 out of 10 for service. There were not enough waiting staff and kitchen staff need to up their game."

"We went here for the first time for my birthday. We really liked the ambience- especially after they turned down the (quite bright spotlights. Staff were attentive but unobtrusive and we did not wait long for our food. Our drinks- we each had a different...glass of wine and a cocktail) were all superb. Our food was really excellent. I was initially a bit disappointed not to see fillet steak on the menu, but the Sirloin was really well cooked- I had asked for rare- and very tasty in the pepper sauce. My partner likes very well done steak and felt that his was on the medium side, but still ate the lot and pronounced it good. I will ask for very rare next time, which I only bother to do when I trust a place to do it well! Dessert was also spectacularly good- really top notch. I had peanut butter profiteroles- which might sound a bit naff, but I thought were superb. OH loved his too. We are already booked in again for Valentines."

"The delivery was LATE and 100% WORTH IT. I would trade my wife and unborn child for an unlimited supply of this restaurant. Honestly hands down the best Chinese takeaway PERIOD. I am so grateful to have been born in this century to have experienced this miracle. The salt pepper chilli chicken, the singapore rice, the black bean beef, the peking ribs. Wow. Time to cry."

"My experience inquiring about having my wedding reception at this restaurant was disappointing. I was initially sent menu options and available dates, which was great. However, when I asked if there was somewhere for me to get ready, I was informed that they only host wedding "parties" in the evening and not wedding receptions. This came as a surprise to me when I was told that I couldn't wear my wedding dress and neither could my bridesmaids, as it would essentially be a full-blown wedding. Despite being recommended this place for our reception after our wedding in Cyprus, all I encountered was rude customer service and was told we could only have a party and not a wedding reception. I suggest that the restaurant clearly communicates to potential clients that they are signing up for a party and not a wedding reception, and that they are not allowed to wear wedding attire. It would be appreciated if this information was conveyed in a more polite manner. Overall, I am very disappointed with my experience."

"The George and Dragon has been my local since I was a young lad, as I grew up in Speldhurst. As such, I have seen it change hands many times,. It has however been a long time since I've seen the place running so well! The quality of the service, the food and the friendly staff and warm atmosphere make this simply one of the best places in Kent to spend your money. With this in mind, we decided to have our wedding reception hosted here. The G&D, as far as I'm aware, have not hosting weddings before. This didn't stop them from delivering the highest quality of customer service I've experienced in a long time and making our wedding a truly beautiful experience. Richard the manager and all his staff really did go the extra mile to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. We were accompanied through every step of the planning and budgeting process to make sure everything worked for us; us and all of the guests were blown away by the experience. If you are considering a wedding reception in Kent, especially if you live in Speldhurst, I would HIGHLY recommend you consider the G&D before resigning yourself to the enormous expense of a more conventional wedding venue. It's right opposite the church too which is convenient!"

"This restaurant is a hidden gem. My friend and I stopped by after a 4-day wild camping trip in the woods, and despite our disheveled appearance, we were warmly welcomed. Although the kitchen was closed, we were directed to the Abergavenny Arms and received excellent service from the lady at the bar. We had previously met a gentleman who we believe is the owner, and he provided us with some interesting information about the building's history. Thank you very much! Price range: £1-10 per person. Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars"

"The Little Bull Cafe is one of my favourite stopping places on my bike ride-outs! A quality cup of coffee, and a great smoked bacon sandwich (and some naughty cakes). What more could you want?! The inside seating is limited, but there is a characterful seating outside area, next to the road (can be a bit noisy, but this is a quiet village setting so not too bad). It can be a bit busy on the weekends, but usually space during the week. Parking: I can always find a spot for my motorcycle, and usually there are spaces for cars around the small village triangle!"

"The prices were quite high—£12.50 for six small prawns on a plate, £17 for a few slices of cold meats, and pasta dishes ranged from £12 to £15. Chicken dishes were priced at £15, while beef dishes went for £20, with wine prices reflecting the typical London rates. Unfortunately, the non-pasta dishes we tried were quite oily, which left two of us feeling uncomfortable afterward. I'm sorry to say that there are better Italian restaurants in the area, and this place does not meet the expectations set by other options."

"Absolutely vile vegan food. Chef clearly despises the existence of vegans as he's ripping them off and selling them what might be dog food from the 90s. In all seriousness, their entire menu is uninspired and made up of frozen and canned food they buy for pittance and sell as if five star. Head up the road to burger king if you want something made with care and attention because this food is not. Salad on the plate is all cheap watery tomatoes and poorly cut red onion slices. I actually feel embarrassed I ate here. AVOID!"

"We went for Father’s Day, the welcome was good, waitress was friendly and was on her own with most of the tables in the restaurant area full. The drinks were fine. The food was not good, in fact we requested rare beef roast and we should have been told it wasn’t possible as the meat was so tough and hard you could not get your teeth through it. The veg was so over cooked it was dehydrated. The cauliflower cheese was lovely but you were only given a teaspoon full as an afterthought on the side. Initially we thought the meals were child portions and a bit steep for the price but actually we were greatful they were when we got ours. The other food being served to other tables looked better but we can’t comment, so if I were you steer clear of the roasts and try something else you may have better luck!"

"You would think for their prices it would be top quality food but it was so average and was still left feeling hungry so had to go Greggs further down the highstreet. A set breakfast doesn't even come with a slice of toast or even a cup of tea. Ridiculous money grabbers. A set breakfast is supposed to set people up for a good day, builder's, office workers and the rest us... Not leave us feeling robbed and still hungry !"

"Here we go...........Have eaten at the Zagatos Bar Brasserie three times over the past year as a guest of family and friends. The Bar Brasserie is situated on the ground floor of the The 4 STAR Spar Hotel. Each experience lunch dinner has been disappointing for a number of reasons service quality of food. Guess what ?... I had a mad idea for some reason and took my partner there for lunch a short time ago. What happened you say ?????.......Ans.....Nothing has changed I am very sorry to say. I do not take pleasure in writing negative reports BUT this time I have to say something. The Good Points : Varied menu wine list with a range of options to suit most tastes. The staff, polite, welcoming and smartly dressed. Lovely dining room full of character. Now the not so good : Our table was not fully clean water food marks on it, plus, black pen marks on the wooden table top. Bearing in mind we are now sat in a 4 Star Hotel Brasserie Bar. Asked for a spicy tomato juice with all the trimmings to start with..... Sorry sir we don 't have tomato juice and we don 't have any spices . So went for the lime and soda which came with hardly any ice and you could not taste the lime juice and was slightly flat. Partner had no starter but I had the Tiger prawn cocktail with avocado. This presented in a Gin Tonic like glass. Only a few prawns and not Tiger small. The avocado was mashed in with the lettuce at the bottom of the glass and no taste very poor. For the main course we had the beef with all the trimmings which was OK but nothing special. Infact, when the meal arrived it came without roast pot 's. Waited a while for the waiters attention and asked for the missing roast pot 's which took five mins to arrive. Yes, I could have made a big fuss and asked for a reduction in my bill etc..etc... BUT I placed myself and partner in the Bar and Brasserie in knowing that it was not that good BUT hoping things may have improved. Not the case."

"We attended a family party here, and our experience was outstanding. What friendly, kind and helpful people! Katie is a superb host and made sure everyone was brilliantly looked after. The room was beautifully decorated, with wonderful flowers and we were welcomed with a glass of prosecco. After half an hour of catching up with friends and family, we sat down to the most delicious lunch. The roast beef (it was Sunday) was melt in the mouth, and so tender. Blackberry and apple crumble was just as good, a perfect balance between sweet and tart. The staff were amazing so friendly and efficient. It was flawless. Congratulations to everyone at Queens Inn: we will certainly be back."

"Unfortunately, the Thai green curry did not taste like a traditional one at all. It lacked the creaminess and delicious flavors you would expect. The quality of the food was also terrible. The chicken was slimy and lacked substance, and the vegetables were overcooked. My boyfriend's chicken in black bean sauce was of similar poor quality and not appetizing either. We were very disappointed and did not finish our meals. I will not be returning to this place and will not waste my time, money, or taste buds on it again."

"Our experience at this restaurant on a Friday night was not very positive. Despite being the only table of six, we were seated at a large table that made it difficult to have a conversation. The table was adorned with oversized market-style flowers that obstructed our view of each other. The background music was unpleasant. The service was attentive, and the menu looked promising although expensive. The snacks we ordered were disappointing, with tough and overcooked pork cheeks and soggy whitebait. My main course of halibut was visually appealing but the fish was overcooked and dry. The leak fondue was excessively salty. Some of my dining companions also found their dishes too salty. The mash and beans were enjoyable. Dessert of pineapple and sorbet was tasty but we were not provided with forks. We had to flag down the waiter multiple times for water refills. Despite the restaurant's pleasant ambiance, ample parking, and impressive menu, I was let down by the overall dining experience. While it had the potential to be a great spot for special occasions, I don't plan on returning due to the disappointing food and service."

"There are entirely separate menus for both veggie and vegan needs. Menus like these can sometimes be disappointing as they are depleted massively from the full menu, however here a good amount of interesting options were available! Happily surprised! What a hidden gem. The chilli and lime avocado was amazing and the triple chocolate vegan cake was the best ive had in a while. Also indulged in a mango milkshake! Yum! Staff were friendly and helpful with any questions, seemed fully prepared on any vegan advice."
