"We went here for the first time for my birthday. We really liked the ambience- especially after they turned down the (quite bright spotlights. Staff were attentive but unobtrusive and we did not wait long for our food. Our drinks- we each had a different...glass of wine and a cocktail) were all superb. Our food was really excellent. I was initially a bit disappointed not to see fillet steak on the menu, but the Sirloin was really well cooked- I had asked for rare- and very tasty in the pepper sauce. My partner likes very well done steak and felt that his was on the medium side, but still ate the lot and pronounced it good. I will ask for very rare next time, which I only bother to do when I trust a place to do it well! Dessert was also spectacularly good- really top notch. I had peanut butter profiteroles- which might sound a bit naff, but I thought were superb. OH loved his too. We are already booked in again for Valentines."

Visited this restaurant on New Year’s Day and had such a lovely meal. Very covid friendly with all staff wearing masks. Steak was cooked perfectly and everything on the plate had flavour and was consumed easily. Had a lovely waitress by the name of Molly.. who was pleasant and made my first experience at this restaurant a memorable one. Thank you…. I am sure to be back soon. Oh and the cocktail was very tasty too!

We visited Steak last night for a birthday meal and had the best time. The restaurant is classy and sophisticated, ladies if you want to get dressed up, do it, you wont feel out of place. The staff are excellent and attentive. The food was...cooked to perfection and very flavoursome. We had a wonderful evening, definitely a great new addition to the Tunbridge Wells restaurant scene. Thank you for making my birthday feel so special.

As title says not sure why it’s called steak, there are steak options with the largest available being ! A steak house should be offering much larger and more variations that the bog standard sirloin ribeye and fillet, no porter...house, T bone, tomahawk etc etc. if your a proper steak lover go elsewhere, if you want a restaurant that’s also sells ok steak then go here. The ribeye was chewy and both of us had upset stomachs from our visit yesterday !. Service was very good, atmosphere not great.

our first indoor restaurant menu since locked and we loved each aspekt. we had the set menu that was not only excellent, but had a good choice. we chose the appetizers of calamari, chicken wings and halloumi, all were well presented...and delicious aromen. for the main course two of us had the minute steak and one had the hard fish. great! and dessert the eskimo bar, which was amazing. olivia was our waitress, she was excellent, as well as the entire staff team, as a welcoming atmosphere as well as a great interior design. we will definitely return!

I won a competition to visit STEAK, it was for two courses for two people. We arrived and the waiter advised that our first drink would be free, as well at the two courses. The food was excellent, could not fault it! Probably one of...the best steaks I’ve ever had. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive. My partner and I ordered a couple of sides to go with our main, expecting to pay for those. However, when we asked for the bill, the waitress came over and told us it had been taken care of! Very grateful to have such a lovely date night, would highly recommend!

hidden little juwel, found absolutely randomly no book was made, but was presented on a Saturday night for table for, we were offered drinks in the bar while our table arranged we were shown on our table and the menu...was quite small but good choices our previous came all very well into the eye, my halloumi personal was not very hot, but the others were great in demand we had no whisper, since we were totally filled the decor was nice and all the workers were polite and courteous would definitely recommend when in the city I would just like to point out that we were not offered steak knives, even if we had all steaks, I guess they were just missed from the table when the table had laid next...

when they book online I was asked if it was a special occasion. I answered that it was a birthday party. not sure why this was asked how I can't say that we feel as if someone knew it was a special occasion for...our, far from it! unfortunately the service was terrible. we had taken our orders for drinks, appetizers and netzen at the beginning and after that no one came to us for the rest of the evening, unless we called them. we had to put an order on other drinks and then we had to ask again because they never came. we were not asked if everything is in order (which is usually quite standard in most restaurants) or even if we wanted to see the Dessert menu! I even had to ask for my change...

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"

"Popped in for a late lunch with my wife and sat in the garden in the sunshine. Friendly bar staff. Both had the mussels starters which were ok and the bread was nice. My wife had the surf and turf main, priced at £40, which...surely would deliver at that price. Sadly not. The lobster was ok but the steak, cooked rare as requested, was grey, under seasoned and tasteless. She didn't finish it and didn't even bother asking for a doggy bag. She felt it was the worst steak she had ever eaten. I went for the chicken fajitas which arrived sizzling on a platter. The chicken was dry, massively under seasoned and the red peppers and onions weren't cooked properly. The salad I didn't even touch as it was so painfully boring to look at. My three tortillas were like cardboard and I ate just half of one and then gave up. Chips were only randomly cooked through so we both left most of those also. We gave feedback to the waitress when she cleared the table and went to pay. Whilst paying at the bar the licensee went behind the bar without acknowledging us in the slightest and told the lady taking our payment to take the fajitas off the bill. No apology; not even the time of day was paid to us. He even said to her tell them the fajitas have been taken off the bill'...why on earth he couldn't tell us directly is beyond me! It was rude beyond belief. We paid and left. Over the years we have been to many carvers, seafood evenings and meals out with family and friends at The Black Horse. I will never step through the door again and waste my money. I will do my utmost to make sure that anyone who asks why will learn the truth. What a dreadful experience!"
