Fantastic food and lovely service. I'll definitely be returning for dinner again. 2 or 3 course set menu at £30 or £36.

The food was delicious! I highly recommend the scallops and sea bass. Gemma provided excellent personal service. The surroundings and atmosphere were lovely. I truly enjoyed my evening there.

A true gem with a fantastic menu and excellent options! We found it while on vacation in Essex and plan to return to Pickering just to visit this restaurant again. We highly recommend it to everyone!

absolutely amazing team, simply made our day! we had a very stressful afternoon and these young completely postponed it in the run of an evening meal with their smiles, banter and tasty eating. large menu, including a whole page with gluten-free and vegetarian options. the seabassfilet was our winner, followed by the cheese plate for desserts. As a meat eater with a partner who is vegetarian we always look for interesting restaurants. We eat out a lot. Staying in Pickering we read reviews for this restaurant and it had a vegetarian menu as well as a meat one. We could not get a table first night so took the only slot available at 5.3o today. My food was lovely, but my partner's was bland and although the food looked the part, it did not deliver on taste. The mushroom dish had grit and one of the stalks was inedible,It is a pity I think the chef must not understand the vegetarian palate, not the best dining experience.

I was really looking forward to this restaurant because they offer a separate vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the vegetarian options felt like an afterthought. While my partner enjoyed their dish from the meat menu, my meal was bland and uninspiring. My starter of mushroom and cream was tasteless, and I even found grit among the mushrooms. The main course looked appealing, but ultimately lacked flavor; it was more style than substance. The pastry on my tian dish was undercooked, and the vegetables inside, particularly the aubergine, were half-cooked and in desperate need of some seasoning. Amazing local bistro! Went there on my first visit to Pickering and had a great experience. Recommend booking ahead, as it can get very busy in the evening and it’s very easy and quick to do so. They change the menu every few months and have a good variety to choose from. For mains we picked the steak with peppercorn sauce and the smoked haddock, which were both amazing. For starters we had the smoked duck and the king prawns and squid, both delicious. For dessert we shared the molten chocolate pudding that comes with vanilla ice cream and fruit. we had a wonderful time to visit willowgate bistro to the birthday of my friend. we had arrived a little late, but after a quick phone call the team was more than happy to accommodate us a little later than booked. I visited this restaurant after seeing some online reviews, but I found that they were a bit outdated. I want to share that the food remains fantastic, the staff is friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable. I started with duck, enjoyed chicken supreme as my main course, and finished with a delightful chocolate fondant, which was definitely worth the extra wait. My husband had the pork belly, steak, and crème brûlée. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in years.
