"Firstly we were sat in the bar, 4 of us with our dog, not the restaurant which maybe the majority of the reviews were based on? The restaurant looks fancier with lovely views. The service was ok, a couple of issues with my daughter’s drinks and her meal was given to another table so we had to wait for that which is never good. Friendly staff. Had to ask for menus having been shown to our table then forgotten about. The food was good but like with many of the other reviews it is very expensive. We thought we’d try it as a treat but were disappointed. The mussels were very gritty. The plaice was really nice but pricey. The king prawns fiddly. When the fish and chips did arrive they went down well, but we were expecting more given the prices. The dressed crab and chips I had for example is £22."

"Amazing view which made for a pleasant visit. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Sadly food was disappointing. I had the chicken liver parfait which was really good apart from the bread could have done with more toasting as it all felt one texture. Then I had the lamb which was delicious but Luke warm and the gravy had made the carrot puree too runny. My friend had the beef roast but had the same issues. Plates were cold and so was her gravy so she had to send it back. I followed it up with a panacotta which had great flavour but was the wrong texture and the rhubarb was so tough I couldn't cut it. It was a shame because it was small things that spoilt our visit even though it was tastey."

"We had pre-booked a table for 6 people to have lunch at 2:15pm. We arrived on time and were shown to the table, which had only been set for 4 people which meant we had to pull a further 2 chairs up to the table, and had to request a wine list. We ordered a round of drinks for the table which took c. 15 minutes to arrive. We were waiting a considerable amount of time for a food menu. Eventually we called a waiter over to order some food and were told that the kitchen we no longer serving, despite having booked a table for lunch and not being warned of the kitchen closing time. The staff told us to be quick in ordering however took a further 10 minutes to come and take the order. The food eventually came and the waitress didn 't even put the food at the correct place, she merely put them on the table for us to distribute accordingly. When the bill eventually came, we politely requested the *optional service charge was removed from the bill as we did not feel that we had received adequate service to warrant a tip, to which the manager began shouting that it as shocking that we wanted to rightfully remove the tip. He went on to say that the kitchen staff had stayed over time to prepare our food. My question to the owner is this... if your chefs are unwilling to work over their hours, why are you offering a reservation close to closing time whilst your staff are incapable of processing the orders to the kitchens in the correct timescale and working hours. If we were told that the kitchen were closing soon, we would have cooperated with the staff to help them work to their time scales."

"Just returned from a lovely few days at Titchwell Manor. We booked a last minute 3 nights break as the weather looked promising. We booked over the phone as we took our well behaved dog with us. Although it’s at the higher end of what we normally pay we felt it was worth it. We stayed in room 24 in the courtyard, it opened up on to the rear gardens which were beautiful. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and welcoming. There was only a bath and hand held shower, we wouldn’t normally book a room without a walk in shower but we only booked a few days before. The breakfast was outstanding, great quality and variety on the buffet table in particular. Lovely hot food, nothing too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and courteous, all very kind to our dog. We had to eat in the Bistro as this is the only dog friendly restaurant, not a problem for us. The evening meal has a smaller menu but focuses on quality. We enjoyed everything we ate. The only negative for us is there’s nowhere to safely walk your dog in an evening. The hotel is directly on the busy roadside. It wouldn’t deter us from staying again, just something to beat in mind. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Romantic"

"We went to Briarfields for the first time for Sunday lunch. We both chose the vegetarian option. The carrot and nut roast tasted ok, but there was a lack of vegetables. My husband had been given an adequate serving of cabbage, but the tiny amount on my plate would have easily fitted inside a desert spoon. I asked the waitress for some more cabbage, and this was brought to me. I did not feel that the meal represented value for money at £21.50 for a meatless roast £16.50 £4.00 for cauliflower cheese and £1.00 for a yorkshire pudding). In most restaurants these are included and not 'extras '. The only vegetables that were included were red cabbage and half a carrot. Desserts were ok but nothing special. When I paid I the bill the gentleman who took my payment said 'enjoy the rest of your day ' or words to that effect, without even looking up from the card machine which felt scripted rather than a sincere comment. Unfortunately our experience doesn 't encourage a return visit."
