really happy that we found this pub, great pub food to go right, good beer as well. love it and we have been back several times

The Wheatsheaf was a proper' pub. A traditional interior (as well as exterior), serving a choice of real ales and the food was good, and a reasonable price.

Staying nearby, with family, on holiday. Found this place online, carpark opposite so handy. The four of us had a really good lunch. I had the salmon in tarragon sauce and it was delicious! Dog friendly too

Met up with friends last night . Excellent food and great service from the young staff. The beer garden is delightful. A proper gem of a place to eat with a warm and comfortable traditional pub feel. Planning to meet up more often at this...place. Well done to Tom and our young waitress for making us feel welcome.

As soon as you walk in a friendly greeting meets you, alongside a lovely log fire. The Mac Cheese with butternut squash was to die for. The best I have ever had and defo home made. My hubby had the steak pie and also...said it was very nice. I would definitely recommend you try this lovely country pub within Oakham centre.

When travelling in our motorhome with our Border Collie, our ideal pub would be dog friendly, welcoming staff, charming old building and good well priced food. Great visit to the Wheatsheaf. Although they were very busy, they were able to fit us in at 6.30pm...We enjoyed a couple of pints in the sunny pub garden before moving inside to the attractive dining room where Monty lay happily on the stone floor. We both enjoyed starters and steak, which were exceptional value for money. Thanks to the landlord and his staff for making us feel so welcome

for the first time booking for Sunday dinner, as the venue is accessible to foot. he asked for a table that allowed the man to sit comfortably where he was in no danger of getting his legs accidentally beaten. service was friendly and efficient, in the did. "best pint" he had revealed in a long time. the frying dinner was hot, much on the teller with obviously domestic frying and fresh vegetables. the bark was tender and tasty and so I was told the lamb. beautiful house made desserts were in offer and all this at a very reasonable price. we will go back!

fed with gastropubs, where they usually camp and not much fantasies eat for their money we were looking for and found this good old-fashioned, right pub that keeps his beer good. the wheatsheaf had friendly personal, traditional pub dishes at a reasonable price and a great selection of beer. the tables and chairs did not agree, but were comfortable, the decoration was not fancy and the carpet a bit worn, but who cares? the golden hop beer was perfect, the steak and the Ale Pie came with many chips and veg and my Makkaroni dishes were delicious. total bill including 2 half pints, £30.20 perfect! and to add the atmosphere, we enjoyed the bell ring practice in the church opposite on Tuesday nig...

we were around the corner in oakham and had luck finding a table here for our family celebration on a Saturday night. Despite the clever photos, the pub is located directly in the centre of oakham, opposite the church and with a public car...Park over the street. a really traditional pub where they resist the temptation to knock walls to create large spaces, beams at the deck and soft lighting all add to the atmosphere. a small bar and then a row of dining rooms, we sat in a room back with about ten covers, quiet and intimate. the menu is quite simple and much of it is homemade, aim to eat relatiw early to avoid disappointment, as the homemade dishes can run out. the employees were friendly...
