A great local pub for locals, fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere Highly recommended if you’re in sandgate- especially if you like seafood, the mussels are fantastic, brilliant platters and Parmesan chips

Great food and service and unbelievably good value for money. We'll definitely be returning very soon to sample the other amazing looking dishes on the menu. An undiscovered gem in my opinion in the very quaint Sandgate location. Great work Daryl team.

We had seen this recommended in several sites so had to give it a try All of the excellent reviews were spot on. It was lunchtime we had their pate hummus along with drinks. Very, very tasty. Friendly staff a stunning, authentic...old pub on Sandgate High St.

We recently purchased a property in Sandgate and have tried a number of restaurants in the area. There are several very good places to eat but our favourite is the Providence. The food is excellent and the service is also very good. Definitely worth a...visit if you are staying nearby.

Service was brilliant. Staff very attentive and friendly. It is a restaurant for fish lovers. The food was freshly caught and cooked. Definitely need to book in advance. I would recommend this restaurant and will certainly be visiting it again. The paella looked lovely but...I don’t like mussels so not for me.

Ate at the Prov again after a visit earlier in the year. This place just gets better. Pork Belly and Guinea Fowl with beautifully balanced accompaniments as good as anything I’ve eaten in much more expensive places. Excellent beers and carefully chosen wines. This Pub/Restaurant...is run by people who really care about the food and drink they provide and the service they offer.

Absolutely smashing food, drinks and service. The kitchen were kind enough to stay open late for us as we only just made lunchtime service and every fishy dish was delish. Prawns scooped from the sea, mackerel pate, mussels and crab croquettes. Espresso Brule desert topped...it off. Alan in the kitchen smashed it and Kate front of house was a joy to be served by. Thank you muchly for a lovely lunch. X

The menu and specials board looked promising until we were told what meals were off , one left of this ….then things declined! The pepper sauce caused a coughing episode for one of our company sadly. I had the last Paella on offer but have...had better else where. The was a notable amount of empty mussel shells. The ale was fine. The pub itself was quite empty. The much admired Model Ship that has graced the premises for sometime has now been retired. The service was ok.

We stayed at a fabulous hotel in sandgate and found this pub on our first day. Booked a table for the last meal of our holiday…wow wow wow…it met and exceeded our expectations! The service was amazing we got a free drink for delayed...starters even though we didn’t realise they were delayed. Starters, mains and dessert all averaged out of ten with our family. The staff were so attentive and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. All in all, if you’re in the area come here, it’s amazing!!!
