"Wanted to go to this place for a long time and finally made it over the last couple of days, it did not disappoint!! Full of character and characters this quirky little pub is charming and welcoming with lots of local ales and ciders, the food is exceptional (we had the burger) and the aptly named The Pig 's Nose ale is so tasty and fruity. If you 're a music fan then you 'll love it even more here because they hold regular events both in the pub and the adjoining hall. There is plenty of camping choices within stumbling distance if you want to make a few days of it and take in some of the amazing sea views and coastal walks, all within easy reach. Simply fantastic!!"

Absolutely spot on lunch. Scotch eggs were heavenly and light, crab and avocado stack was fresh and tasty and the chips…. You will want a second portion. All in the most perfect traditional cosy pub setting. Voir le carte

Had a delightful lunch with friends at a local pub that is full of character and history. The new menu is fantastic, featuring delicious dishes made with high-quality local ingredients. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or just passing through. Each person can expect to pay between £10-20. The food, service, and atmosphere all get a perfect score of 5.

A very popular pub with a lot of character. I've been dropping in for 40 years and it is always a pleasant place to be. It has a captive audience in the summer with a lot of camping fields on its doorstep. Bar staff were great in busy circumstances when we visited last on a sunny weekend at the beginning of September. Food looked good. Beer was good. Price per person: £1–10

We visited this fantastic pub during our holiday in East Prawle and it was definitely a highlight. The staff were extremely friendly and engaging. The food, especially the steak burger and fish and chips, was delicious and very satisfying. The cozy atmosphere inside the pub added to the overall experience. If you're in the area, definitely make a stop here. Food: 5 Service: 5 Voir le carte

What a wonderful pub. Friendly and unique. We were staying in the area for a couple of nights and could not believe our luck in having this fantastic pub in the village. The variety and quality of beers was good, pub food done correctly with generous portions and a great luvs band which was perfect for my music loving family. What makes this pub so good was the atmosphere. A truly unique and happy place to be

We were staying nearby for 3 days and booked here for the Friday night. Pub is 500 years old and was used by smugglers and pirates we were told. Food was good and not too expensive. Recommend the crab salad starter. Delicious. Place was full of locals and had lots of character. We went for a walk to the Coastguard station at Prawle Point on the Saturday morning and called in on the way back to see if we could get some lunch. They had just stopped doing food but let us order a sandwich and a scotch egg which was just what we wanted. Would love to go back next time we are in the area! Definitely recommend but you need to book in the evening.

"The positive is that the food is good. But the negative is the service time and the attitude of the staff. We were seated and had our order taken after 20 minutes. A little slow but it was a busy Saturday evening so understandable. Starters came promptly and were eaten. We then got ignored by every passing member of staff for at least 50 minutes. Quite the skill! Once there was a break in our conversation and I realised how long it had been, I stood up to intercept a waitress and asked “are our mains on the way, please?” Our ticket was checked by her at the kitchen hatch and we were told “yes”. At this point our starter plates were cleared after they had sat on the table for at least 35 minutes. Our mains then took another 25 minutes to get to us, so I suspect that being told they were on their way was a lie. To be clear: we were given our mains 1hr 20 mins after placing our order. I complained to a waitress who sent over a manager. The manager asked if we’d had starters (yes, we had) and said that it was our fault our main was so late as we’d had a first course. How insulting!!! Blaming the customer for their bad service. Disgusting. When I said it was still far too long to wait between courses she then changed tack and said the kitchen was “really really busy” well, they weren’t busy cooking our food now were they?! And despite the place being full when we arrived, by this point of the night over half the tables were empty. There were 3 tickets on the pass along with ours and tables were 2 4 people (no large groups) so I feel that was also another lie to get out of it. What a shocking way to treat customers! My advice to you is: if you want your food served in a timely manner, either take the advice of the manager and don’t order a starter, or, be sure to communicate with waitstaff once your first course is finished and ask for your main to be cooked and served promptly. (Note: food also sat under the heat lamps for long lengths of time as staff stood socialising with one another behind the bar rather than serve customers) I hope this advice is of use as I would have appreciated it ahead of my visit! Good luck. [Reading other reviews, ours is not the only experience of slow service and seeing staff chat to one another rather than deal with the customers paying their wages.
