"the rooms were recommended to us by a friend who held an alice afternoon tee for the 80th birthday of her father. to love mersea, we have decided to book one afternoon for ourselves. from the moment we came in, we were warmly welcomed by extremely friendly staff. we sat in the garden (we had our dog with us), which was protected, quirky and beautifully designed, not overcrowded with tables and chairs, as some can be located. our afternoon tea was beautifully presented and so crooked. Also included in the price were 2 cocktails I recommend the storm at the sea.! we had a fabulous afternoon, too foot on the beach with our dog, followed by a fabulous afternoon tea in a really wonderful facility. I can't judge it high enough. a) in the situation, with our dog, who was greeted as cordial as we b) the staff was warm and friendly c) personal attention without unnecessary to float d) quality food"

lovely atmosphere on a Friday night. Not to busy but enough to create a nice buzz. Service was excellent by our waitress but unfortunately didn't get her name! Menu is not extensive but enough to leave you still deciding what to have, beef carpaccio starter, carbonara and white chocolate parfait were all excellent. Meals were not huge, but actually had room for dessert and felt full but still comfortable afterwards. Overall good value for money. Well done Rosie the team

My first ever visit to the Gilt room yesterday was a really lovely experience from walking through the door myself and daughter were warmly welcomed. We chose to sit outside in a beautifully arranged garden which was very pleasant. The menu was varied and to be honest with the dishes on there it was so hard to decide which one to have. The choices were absolutely delicious and plentiful and fresh. The staff and lady we had a lovely conversation with was a joy to meet. I also love the decor of pure white and pale grey too ! . Overall a delightful visit to the Gilt room and I will be back for more :
