"A great seasonal menu always awaits, great selection of wines and ales with the bonus of some interesting cocktails too. its always difficult to choose from the small but perfectly formed menu. We were taking some friends that had not been to The Crown before, we are always greeted with a smile and nothing is ever to much trouble. Scotch egg was fantastic combined with the home made ketchup pork belly was beautifully prepared and tasted as good as it looked. Sirloin was perfect.... fantastic chefs and front of house staff fun, attentive but not intrusive. A great balance, keep up the good work. Highly recommend"

quirky pub, looks can be deceptive, very strange art of service, megan was beautiful, fantastic eating, not too expensive, though

the only mistake in our booking on this wise we did not know that the Tuesdays were film night and the restaurant was used for that.

Went to for Sunday lunch and there was a pork and beef option but my friend only eats chicken. The team spoke to the chef who cooked a chicken breast for my friend. Great customer service.

Booked lunch at the Crown to meet friends as a convenient location approximately midway between where we both live, and we were very pleased at our choice. The staff were courteous and helpful in all respects. The food was very good, everybody was very pleased with their choices. Service was excellent, and the overall ambience very relaxing. Definitely one we will keep on our list.

We dine at the Crown quite often as it is within a short walking distance. This means we have tried all the dishes on the menu and have not been disappointed. Being regulars, we know the staff well and always get a warm welcome and notice that other diners receive a similar level of friendliness and attention. They also operate a loyalty card scheme, which is quite generous for us regular diners. Voir le carte

was camping for the weekend at the burg and someone mentioned this pub only as a reservation, so gave them a call early on Saturday night. rubbed a bit early for a pint, the open table and the menu was offered. Standard-Pub-Grub, all looked good and what expected, portion sizes were also good. the dessert had to lose as full"Pint by betty stoggschicken goujons black and blue burger cost were about £25

Half-week birthday party. nice pub, the staff is friendly. the dining room is quite small with no soft furniture and once full is quite loud. my starter (fish goujons) and main (steak) were nice, I was not over sharp on the pfeffer sauce, but it came in a separate dish, so that was good. I found the cloby chips a bit dry when we go back I would try the thin fries option. Unfortunately, we went rather hurry, because my man was badly affected by a strong perfume worn by one of the others, so I cannot comment on the desserts.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
