"We took a friend who was visiting here because it has a reputation for great food and good value for money. Unfortunately, our experience belies this reputation somewhat. Two of us had sausage and mash. The sausages were tiny little things and one of the oversized plates came out with a miserable-looking portion of mash: it was miserly. To their credit, the staff provided extra mash when we complained, but really, it shouldn't have come out of the kitchen like that (potatoes cost very little compared to the cost of the meal). I had the halloumi burger, with chips. Again, the chips came out in one of those ridiculous baskets (so they look more than they are). The burger had plenty of halloumi in it but that's about all that can be said of it. We might have been happy with the meal overall, if it had been reasonably priced. But, in our view, it was at least two pounds a head too much and the halloumi burger possibly more."

Called in with the dog after a snowy walk in the forest. Received a warm welcome, delicious cask ale and a great meal. What more can you want on after a chilly walk. Will definitely be coming back when we’re next in the area.

Friendly welcome from owners and locals. Busy pub which is larger than appears from the outside. Food was really tasty and good value. Very dog friendly and plenty of space around some of the tables to get them out of the way. We will definitely visit again

visited the crucibles on Mother's Day with my parents, men and teens. the service was friendly and fast. we had all lunches and it was delicious. the portions were generous and everything on the plate was on the square. Although we were all filled, we all made a pudding that was also beautiful. it was also a good value for money and dog friendly. would definitely recommend.

The food was very enjoyable (despite my rare steak being a little over medium) Unfortunately, the landlady was at best "standoffish... bordering RUDE. The pub has a clear clique of locals who gather around the bar and get/expect preferential treatment. Delays in ordering, waiting for the bill and QUEUING to pay, meant an hour lunch took well over two hours. We had a well behaved three year old. I sensed despite the children 's menu, that kids aren 't welcome. Shame. I repeat, food was good

"started really well and went to the counter and ordered a cream with bananas and nutella and especially gave no earthberries I also asked after a san pelegríno still water as this was on the menu. I was the first person to order and the last to eat at the end. I brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water I just had £2 for what I would like to have seen? we will, when asked for san pelligrino to say water that they do not in. Finally my crepe and I take a bite and understand that it is earthly on the whole species and wise by which I am allergic. one of my family members takes it back and says that I have asked for bananas, there is no earthly reason why I cannot eat it and did not want it on my crepe. then 5 minutes later another crêpe comes out, who was my bite crêpe, that someone had put the earthy and banan in the bananas. disgusting ... not sure whether this was a mistake or just stingy either as it did not. it is then returned because there is no way I eat, and it is explained again, there is a reason that I can not eat strawberries, to which then one of the owners passes to serve the right crepe and apology. I really hope that today a lection has been learned because cross-contamination is not a sweat. please be careful when they eat there. I didn't get any refunds offered, but then they were ready to serve me a bite crawl, so it didn't surprise me so much."
