"We arrived without a booking, hot from the North Norfolk coast, and of course dressed accordingly but not scruffy. We were earlyish and there was just a couple of tables occupied and a little fuss was made before deciding they had a table for two. The restaurant never got busy whilst we were there. We ordered a couple of drinks whilst looking at the menu and decided, having previously seen their status as a pub of the year finalist that we would have a full meal. We ordered scallops, and my wife a fetta plum tart as starters and some wine for our main course with pan fried duck and monkfish for wifee. The starters arrived and after having killed a wasp with a napkin we really enjoyed both starters and i asked the waitress to remove the dead wasp and thank the chef. I then killed wasp no 2 in another napkin. Our bottle of wine for my duck arrived ok. The mains arrived and my duck tasted and smellled as if it had been smoked heavily! My wifes monkfish seemed good despite it swimming in a large pool of risotto but the large prawns served with it were not cleaned and that finished my wifes excursion with her main! I asked the waitress whether the duck was smoked and she replied no, it is pan fried I then found a largish piece of bacon on the plate and of course that was what was over powering and killing any taste from the duck! I do not, ever, have smoked food, and therefore that was the end of my excursion with my main too! Having killed wasp no 3. I asked for the bill and gave what I believed was polite and constructive criticism to the waitress including about the wine glasses which were way too thick glass and like drinking from a mug. So we left both mains and asked for the bill. The waitresses feed back to the manageress was they didn 't like it so all of the distinct feedback I gave her was wasted and not passed on which was sad! No offer of a reduction on the bill was offered and I did not ask for any, although some sort of gesture for acting as a insect destroyer, and two mostly uneaten mains and thick glass mugs, the half bottle left of the wine might have helped from the £124 bill.. Never again although on a last positive note both waitresses were polite and friendly. Such a shame and I could still taste the thick smoked bacon on the way home, uugh!"

The food was decent, but the prices were high for what was offered and the atmosphere was lacking. The service did not meet expectations. Overall, it was okay, but the quality and portion sizes did not justify the high cost.

I recently visited The Angel and had an amazing experience once again! The staff were attentive, polite, and very friendly as always. I ordered the duck breast and it was cooked to perfection. My partner had the ribeye, cooked medium rare, and it was also beautifully cooked. The kids enjoyed their chicken goujons and free scoop of ice cream. The staff were great with the kids, providing them with coloring materials. I learned from one of the waitresses that The Angel will be undergoing a complete refurbishment in September. While it will be sad to see our favorite restaurant closed, we are excited to see the new look!

Although pricey, the food was very good, so no complaints about that. The man serving us was pleasant and welcoming. My only complaint is with the beer. I asked for a pint of whatever they had on the two handpumps and was given a vile pint that tasted like vinegar. It was changed for a pint from the other beer on the other pump without any fuss, but to have given me the first pint at all was inexcusable. Beer doesn 't go 'off ' just like that. The beer I was given was way past its best. It must have been sitting there festering for a long time to get in the condition it was. For me, the number one thing I am looking for in a pub is good beer from the handpump. I was disappointed with the Ang...

the food was great, I say that upfront because that is by far the best about this place. Don't get me wrong, there are other good things, the staff are attentive and nice, the beer is also good… But the food… The food is why you would go there if you weren't local. we got there at 6 PM and it took quite a while to get the food to us (although I have to say, I was glad I waited when it finally arrived as it was excellent). the pub itself is in need of a bit of TLC, the tables in the restaurant were a little sticky and it's a strange little old building that's had extension after extension over the years. But as I said, you go there for the food, if you can afford it, I would recommend it. If...

Our first visit to The Angel was a delightful experience. The Pearl Barley and Wild Mushroom Risotto was delicious, although my husband suggested that a touch of truffle oil and Parmesan shavings would elevate it further. His Cumberland sausages, black pudding, and bacon with mash were perfect, and my Lemon Sole with mash, butter sauce, asparagus, and samphire was amazing! The chef kindly accommodated my shellfish allergy by swapping the scallops and king prawns for extra vegetables and mash, which I greatly appreciated. The locally made ice cream for dessert was superb, and my cherry and chocolate soufflé, though not perfectly risen, was full of flavor. The service was friendly and efficien...

I cannot knock the food, the service, the staff, the atmosphere because it is all brilliant. I have been here a few times with family and have never been disappointed at all. Slightly pricey for what you get however, I am all for paying for the full experience, and the bar and waiting staff really go the extra mile. However, I have a baby and this was the first time I had been back since having my daughter. At the end of the meal I asked where the toilets were as I needed to change her, they pointed me to the right direction but they don't have any baby changing facilities at all! I asked the girl behind the bar where they were and she told me they don't have any, they will get some when the...

We booked here with friends for a meal. We had been told the food was amazing hence trying it out. On arrival we parked in the large car park but was surprised for a Saturday night that there were only a couple of cars in the car park. Whilst walking the the entrance it was very noticeable that there where lots of weeds all around the side of the property and in general looked unkempt. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff who helped us choose drinks. We were shown to our table in the front section of the restaurant near the bar area. The tables chairs and décor underwhelming, looks like original bar chairs worn and shabby( not chic shabby) and tables like my old oak dining table. Deco...

"My wife and I stayed here for a few days to celebrate my birthday. We chose Titchwell Manor due to its location on the A149. From here we can catch the Coasthopper up or down the coast. The bus stops are 100 metres outside the hotel. We were greeted in the car park and shown to our room behind the hotel. We had Basil number 21. It is a large comfortable room, with walk in shower and the fluffiest towels we have ever had. The room was very well heated and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was served from a civilised 8am. The plate of fresh fruit was really good. If you choose to have you eggs poached they will be the most perfect you will ever have with their lovely orange yokes. The rest of the components were equally good and served with leaf tea or great coffee. The bars each had a lovely roaring log fire, where we enjoyed a drink before our meal. The menu choices we made were ham hock, brioche piccalilli and burnt apple purée followed by venison, Jerusalem artichoke and rainbow kale. The other choice was marinated beetroot, basil pesto and goats cheese cream followed by salt baked celeriac, sage and onion with crispy kale. Both meals were outstanding. The venison was very tender and the celeriac was outstanding. On the basis of this dish, a very under stated vegetable. Service was very good and served at a speed we dictated without the continual pestering we have experienced elsewhere. We will definitely come back here as the whole stay was a great experience."
