"I went to this restaurant with German friends. The restaurant is in central Lubeck up a narrow cobbled street full of exquisite brick merchants' houses. The restaurant is in a house that used to belong to a sweet inventor and merchant. The dining room is...on the ground floor . The washrooms are in the cellar and are a complete surprise because they are stunningly modern. They are spotlessly clean. The main problem was that the menu was in German and Italian but not English. We were fortunate that our friends were able to translate. The staff spoke some English and through charm, goodwill and effort were able to communicate with us. They were all really warm and kind. I had tagliatelle with tomato, green asparagus and pfefferling mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious. My companion had quail with a tomato risotto which he described as absolutely brilliant' . My main course was Dover sole, just plain grilled, with hot beetroot, courgette and spinach. I asked for boiled potato rather than salad. It was all perfectly cooked and again delicious. My companion had saltimbocca which he enjoyed. The sauce was very good. One of our companions had tomato risotto with poached salmon with a crayfish sauce. She said it was excellent. We drank a weissbergunda German white wine which was very good. This was a historically fascinating place, serving excellent food with charming staff. Well worth a visit, but take a German English dictionary if you don't speak German."

Ideal for an upscale romantic evening. It is very quiet; you can talk quietly and listen very well. There is a wide selection of exquisite fish dishes. The waiters are not only friendly and attentive, but also very competent.

Excellent for a fine dining lunch experience, as couple, family, friends or business. Italian inspired kitchen. Noble atmosphere in a former merchant home. Lunch menu. Good and attentive service. Good draft beer, and ok house wine. Not cheap, but fine price value. For shared starter...and main and shared desert, water and a glass of beer or wine, some plus Euro a head. Reserve table. Restrooms impeccably clean.

A very old historic site in lubeck . Inside steeped in history. Italian restaurant with Italian chef Staff immaculate especially Bettina who made us most welcome and was totally efficient. It is a large place and many tables to choose from Food really tasty and...very good prices absolutely worth a visit and highly recommended. There is food for every taste because it was such a great place I would suggest linen napkins rather than paper !!

I have been several times here and I have to assume it’s one of the best Restaurants I know. Good is always great, I recommend yours starter the Antipasti for the main course either the lamb or beef filet steak and dessert should be creme...brullé. Wide range of excellent wines are available. Beside the food the building itself is a class of its own. Very polite, fast and friendly is standard. That's what it best describes this place, impeccable. We had the tasting menu for dinner and it was absolutely delicious, a wonderful mixture of Mediterranean and European tradition. Appeticers were really nice, Risotto was delicious and meat dishes were cooked to perfection, to finish with...a delicious and refreshing mixture of panacotta, gelato and red fruit sAlad. That's what I call a suberb dinner. Ten points for the service, very attentive but discreet at the same time. And of course,,,the place has lots of character. A memorable night!

We stumbled across the Schabbelhaus by chance and it turned out to be the gustatory highlight of our month in Northern Germany. We thought it would be expensive, based on the menu outside and the from TripAdvisor, but the lunch menu was entirely reasonable,...and the food was absolutely divine. We had one entree based on roasted vegetables and the other based on veal, with other ingredients and sauces that made us slow down, because we didn't want it to end.
