Samuel Fox Country Inn

Our experience at the Inn was delightful. The food was amazing and the staff was exceptional. We are seriously considering returning for another stay in the future.

My group of four had a delightful dinner at this restaurant. The food was delicious and perfect in every aspect. This was our fourth visit and we definitely plan to come back again.

As a recently retired couple, my wife and I eat out regularly. We have eaten many times at the Samuel Fox and never been disappointed by the food or service. The exterior Country Pub hides some seriously delicious food. Be sure to book in advance as it rightly is very well booked. An understated gem of a place, but don’t tell everyone.

We stayed two nights in a very comfortable bedroom and ate on one night. Having tried out the local competition we wish we had booked to dine for the second night aswell. The plain exterior of this pub completely belies the quality of the food, presentation and taste. The breakfast was equally outstanding. The whole property is meticulously maintained and spotless throughout. A very well managed restaurant/small hotel with very pleasant staff. They were keen to be Covid safe aswell.

I made a mandatory deposit of £5 per person at a restaurant on 10 November 2021. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed down in December and I have not been able to reach them since. Despite the website stating that they are closed for the winter as of 5 May 2022, I find it strange to do so in May. Attempts to contact them by phone have been unsuccessful. I no longer have any desire to visit this establishment after this experience and feel it is important to warn others. Is this restaurant even still operating? Voir le carte

We recently stayed here for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We received a warm welcome and our room was very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities and a good shower. It was also spotlessly clean. Dinner was fantastic all of the food was delicious, there was a good wine list to choose from and the service was excellent. We also received a lovely decorated plate of chocolate to mark our special occassion. Breakfast was also delicious one of the best we've ever had. We would definitely recommend the Samuel Fox Inn.

The Samuel Fox was the perfect venue for our relaxed, intimate wedding reception in July 2021. James and his team were amazing in the run up to the wedding and were so helpful and organised when it came to planning the day. We were invited to sample the delicious food and put together a fantastic menu. The team were also available to advise on wine choices and order in any requests for the day. They were so helpful in ensuring our guests were well looked after, for example accommodating dietary needs and organising transportation for guests. We probably should have looked more carefully at the website, but as they use the words. ‘Fine Dining’ in their strap line, that’s what we expected. They also promise a ‘warm welcome’…. This is a pub, with basic wooden tables, awful carpet etc. The staff are young and untrained. There was no welcome whatsoever, just shown to our table, order taken and delivered without eye contact or any kind of human interaction. It was cold as well with all the doors open. The food tasted good, but we would suggest that they represent themselves as they are, so others don’t have to be disappointed or misled.
