"General/Ambience After a 3 hour visit to Saar and a shopping trip through the centre of Saarbrücke, we returned hungry to the Ristorante “Porto Vecchio”. The restaurant is located just a few meters from St. Johanner Markt at the beginning of Saarstraße/ Ecke B 51 Schillerplatz/ Am Stadtgraben. Some brave guests had a space outside with a nice but cool weather. We were lucky and got the last two places on a small two table in the cozy guest room. They sit comfortably on cream-colored leather husks, the tables are beautifully covered on double fabric tablecloths, a lot of dark wood on walls and ceilings and the one or other decoration as reminded of port, sea and seafaring develop warm Mediterranean wellness arms. Service In service three waiters were in use, we were greeted by an elegantly dressed man with slides, probably the boss de rank, very friendly. He accompanied us to a free little two table, gave us the menu and was shortly after our first order, a large bottle of mineral water. The other drinks and food came after a pleasant waiting period. Also the two other male service personnel, dressed correctly in dark suits, were very attentive and whispered on the jump. There was nothing in service. When we were asked for the bill, we were asked for a “permanent” in the house. A beautiful gesture and today of course not everywhere. Marsala and Grappa have tasted well, not a foot for the race or tours that should go. Food The well-sorted menu offers an appealing selection of Italian dishes from antipasti, diverse, pasta, pizza and meat dishes. Fish is offered separately and is not on the map as you only offer fresh fish and there is no daily fish. We chose pizza "Porto Vecchio "to 9,50€, flaky-cake-thined dough, well baked, but only in the edge area loose fuffy crawling, in the middle a bit teigy and hard to cut, the tomato sauce as basic food, the cover consisting of capers, tuna, onions, garlic, crabs, parsley was sufficient and tasty, almost disappointed you can ask for more. The pizza was okay, but not an Italian masterpiece. On the other hand, the second food could be. Steak “Pizzaiola” at 17,00 € with a supplement according to choice and a supplemental salad; consisting of various leaf salads and rocket, carrots and red herbs, olives and tomatoes, it was covered with a delicious home suit. I chose Tagliatelle as an electoral supplement. They tasted like self-made, were al dente and harmonized like the meat perfectly with the tomato sauce spicy with capers, black olives and Italian herbs. The steak from the Scottish rage, finely marbled, long-hanging and with preserved aroma, was a palate, both sides sharply fried and in the heart perfectly a point medium, it was nicely tender and juicy. I love it. We had a good Frascati 0.25l to 5 € and an espresso to 2 €. For Saarbrücken and this place I find the prices absolutely good. A good steak of about 220gr with supplements for 17 € that fits (4,5*, the pizza we did not find so great for 9,50 € we would have expected more (3*. Conclusion: good service, beautiful ambience, good Trattoria cuisine. My recommendation – Steak."
