"if I could give this beautiful place more than staring, I would. I can honestly say it was the best pub experience I've ever had! it is in a really beautiful location, and the sun gentle, but the service of personal outshone even the weather as it was excellent. the love for detail and the really good old customer service was refreshing to find. they add that our dog is so welcome that they might think. but was that something good to eat? well, we had the seafood plant and it was the best I ever had. our son had a big burger and fries, and we all enjoyed various puddings of chocolate brownies, sticky toffee pudding and lemon tart, all washed with big cappuccino’s and it was all top notch! the dog was picked up by the workers and visitors and treated and given water as courtesy. the toilets were the most immaculate of all I was. this place won awards in and while there may be a hiccup recently (not sure the reasons, so can not comment) the current team have this place back and running in a very short space, and they deserve all the success of this hard work in the future. I really hope that they win the pub of the year I wish we could have booked a week in this pub, then it must go with the views to surrey! my advice, put this place in their bucket list and go there soon. they will love it!"

Stopped briefly en route to Oban. Beautiful setting on a lovely sunny day. Note to bikers: the car park is a bit rocky but there are flat bits.

it's about my third visit in the heart of the inseln. I must say it is a popular place because of the stunning landscape close to and its fantastic view over the whole city.

we had excellent food here, which is fantastic, the people are friendly and welcoming. the only light after this pub was that dogs were limited to the tiled area, that is a good idea for cleanliness, but it was just the main way through the outside over the front of the bar pretty busy. we still enjoyed it here.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
