"I stopped by for food but was informed that there were no available tables due to quiz night, even though the restaurant was empty. We decided to go down the road to the Zetland for drinks and then had a meal at the Rising Sun. As we walked back past the restaurant, it was still empty. It seems they may not welcome campers on quiz night. Our experience was disappointing, as we ended up spending our money elsewhere. They were not willing to accommodate us, even though we would have been happy to sit at the bar or in the tap room. The response we received from the staff seemed defensive and unwelcoming. Despite this, we had a great meal and drinks at another establishment nearby. It seems like the issue lies with their kitchen staff's inability to handle a few extra customers. Overall, we were not impressed with the service or atmosphere."

We visit this pub every year on our annual camping trip to Kingsdown, and received the usual warm welcome from Alex, Amanda and the lovely Rebecca. Excellent Sunday lunch, and good meal prior to the Tuesday quiz. The vegan selection is very good, and the homemade chips are amazing that chef knows what he's doing!

It was great to discover a traditional British pub with a cozy, old-school vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the drink selection was top-notch, and the atmosphere was excellent. Recently visited the Kings Head and had a great meal. The service and quality of food provided was excellent. Friendly and accommodating to us, whilst giving us time to enjoy the food that was provided. Quick in responding to the request to book a table at the start of the experience, but no rush during the meal so was able to enjoy the cosy and comfortable surroundings of the Kings Head. Great staff and definitely value for money in terms of menu on offer.
