"Just spent the weekend here. We had a jolly from our bar in Gran Canaria. We met up with 40 odd customers and had a blast. The hotel obviously filled up quickly with bookings and when we arrived we were told we were in the house a few doors along. We were a little apprehensive until we walked in the room. The room was amazing. Massive comfy bed, spotless, warm and piping hot water in the shower. It was perfect. But not the best thing about the hotel. The best thing was the bar and restaurant. The food was incredible. 40 odd people ate there and not one negative comment. The staff were brilliant. They couldn’t do enough for us. All dietary requirements were covered. Nothing was too much trouble. In the bar afterwards I asked if they had sugar free Red Bull. They didn’t but within 15 mins they did. This just shows how far they will go out of their way to look after their customers. You guys are a credit to the owners. Not forgetting the brekkie included in the price. Yet again I’m going to use the word amazing. Many thanks guys and see you again soon."

Really enjoyed the food here, had prawn cocktail followed by a super fillet steak. Staff were excellent and knew what the were doing. It’s let down a bit by the canteen style tables/chairs, otherwise I’d definitely go again.

Lovely chicken breast and haggis with chips and veg. Too much for me though, so they lost out as I had no room for pudding! Very helpful and friendly staff. Service was quick too . No real ale but Bellhaven best was alright.

The 2 course fixed price dinner was good value, and the servings were generous. The restaurant was no noisier than you normally find with hard floors, and although the main courses were standard pub fare, the desserts had a bit of flair. Voir le carte

We last visited the Craigenelder two years ago and I am pleased to say that it has maintained its high standard of food. I particularly recommend the Seafood Pancake and would advise that the service and customer care level was also very good

We had dinner here at short notice and after phoning they squeezed us in at short notice. Parked on site, restaurant was busy but it was a clean and comfortable space. Food took a while to come but it was nice. It was just what we needed but it’s not the best we’ve had, we’d still return in future.

We arrived to a fairly empty restaurant without a booking . We were seated in another area of the restaurant away from everyone else were there was more empty tables . Necessitating the light to be put on because it was so dark. Service poor, food mediocre so we decided to have our dessert elsewhere. Voir le carte

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights over Easter. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. The room we had over looked the Loch. It was clean tidy and the bed was comfy. The staff at breakfast were very attentive. The menu was a little limited tho the cooked breakfast or any combination of what was on the cooked breakfast could be ordered with no fuss at all. When it arrived on the table it was very tasty and good sized portions. If needing a stay in Stranraer we would definitely recommend.

Veg which accompanied main courses were very undercooked. Cauliflower cheese and carrots in particular were rock hard. Cauliflower cheese is my favourite so was very disappointed I couldn’t eat it. We had waited over an hour for mains, some of us had starters but even so. Due to delay some of us were pushed for time so ate what we could left the uncooked veg on plates or serving dishes and had to leave. If we’d more time we would have sent it back for replacement but we were hungry and pushed for time and thought we’d have finished the meal anyway before any replacement came out. If we’d been a smaller group with more time would have definitely sent back. However, think it’s important to fee...

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
