"I made a reservation at Bijou for brunch on a Sunday. James and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. It's clear that they strive to make all customers feel at home, which is always appreciated. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, which was delicious and satisfying. I would definitely return for a boozy brunch or lunch in the future. Plus, the fact that they welcome dogs is a big bonus in my book! Overall, a fantastic dining experience at Bijou."

Great place for a traditional Scottish breakfast(other breakfast choices) available. Good value for money, great food and coffee and friendly staff. Not many tables so worth booking.

I had a great dining experience at the Bijou once again. The owner greeted me warmly as always. The food and drinks were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the delicious beer battered haddock.

Just back from Bijou Bistro- we are gutted to not have tried this before! What a find. Delicious full breakfast and croque monsieur. We will definitely be back for more and for some dinner as well. Well done!

Our annual family reunion renewed after Covid. As usual James did us proud. He and his staff were most welcoming and friendly. The food choice was good. It was all very tasty and reasonably priced. A great day had by all

This place really caters whether you're on your own and after a scrumptious lunch or wanting a luxurious meal with friends, as observed by the various that attend. I can vouch for the moreish fish and chips, amazing coffee and pastries. Warm, friendly atmosphere.

Went for our first Sunday Roast at Bijou (after having it recommended) and it certainly won't be our last! Good tasty food, reasonably priced, polite and friendly service- what more can you ask for? The restaurant was cosy (only having 6/7 tables) but that just added to the atmosphere on a cold rainy Scottish Sunday!

We stopped by for a drink upon arriving in Edinburgh and were greeted by a friendly and helpful young lady. She provided us with great recommendations for activities and attractions in the area, even going so far as to write down bus numbers and give us useful suggestions. She made our first experience in Edinburgh truly unforgettable. Thank you and best of luck in the future!

Had an amazing unplanned early dinner in Bijou this evening. Tired and hungry, we had three serious courses! Delicious Cullen Skink, Fish Pie with lovely crunchy veg and a lovely spiced plum crumble with proper custard. Wine was very good. What a great chef and charming service. We left feeling very happy . Atmosphere was cosy and getting very busy as we left. One of the best meals I have had in Edinburgh. Thank you and we will be back.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
