"Extremely disappointed to have bought a caramel shortbread from the counter in the Post Office Shop (which were strangely covered up with tin foil even though I asked for cakes to be uncovered so I could choose what I wanted). Got the bag home (many miles away) to discover its is covered in nuts?!? I have never known caramel shortbread to have nuts on it and have never before had to buy something without seeing it because the person serving wouldn’t uncover it. Had I seen it had nuts on it I wouldn’t have bought it so I’ve unnecessarily wasted my money on a not inexpensive cake. It also doesn’t bode well for anyone with a severe nut allergy."

The food here is excellent and offers great value for money. I dined in for lunch, and the price per person was between £10 and £20. I would rate the food a perfect 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere also a 5. Highly recommended! Voir le carte

Pot of tea for 1 and scone with butter cost £6.40! For two people that's £12.80. All tasted OK but very pricey, almot £5 more than a local competitor. Had we known there was that much difference we would have gone elsewhere. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. As for kid-friendliness, the staff were warm and took the time to chat with both of my daughters. We dined in for brunch, and the cost per person was between £10 and £20. I would rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5. I highly recommend the Full Breakfast!

Stopped here after doing to loop walk around the island. After a few hours of walking, it's a great place to stop and refresh. It's not cheap (but no where is nowadays). The food is good quality. My husband had the crab sandwich (he said it was great, tasted really fresh), and I had the bacon, crambery, and brie sandwich. Very nice. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

Having only previously visited on a day when we could use the outdoor area it was great to find that there is a dog friendly room inside the cafe. We both had the Holy Island full breakfast, and full we certainly were afterwards. The component parts were excellent, especially the bacon and sausage really tasty and obviously good quality. Look forward to a return visit. Service: Dine in

"This place is simply too expensive for what is delivered. There’s nothing wrong with the food per se, but the prices are astronomical. We ate the leek tart, as a starter and it was £12. It was fine, but didn’t deliver the impact we were expecting for the price. It wasn’t made fresh, and the side salad was dripping in bog standard vinaigrette. Not inedible, but nothing special. I had the salt and chilli squid with ‘Asian slaw’. I was expecting flavours of coriander, lemongrass, lime, mint; all what I would consider pan-Asian flavours. When the dish arrived I could see straight away it was not to be! Instead of what I’ve described there was a fairly ordinary looking salad, swimming in a pool of (what tasted like) supermarket hoi-sin sauce. Really too much and overly sweet. The squid itself was well cooked but a very sparse portion for £16. Other dishes included lobster, at almost £60 (market price apparently) which was competent but came with bought in chips. No flavour to chips, they were semi-stale. We had higher hopes, I’m afraid. The service and atmosphere were perfectly fine, no issues there. Staff were efficient and friendly. I’m afraid for us, holidaymakers willing to spend money, this restaurant doesn’t represent good value. I enjoy eating out, but I hate feeling ripped off…and I’m sorry to say, that’s how dining at ‘The Potted Lobster’ felt. Save yourself the bother and go to the local butcher/pie shop a few doors down. They were doing a roaring trade and I can see why!"
