"Called in after a long winters walk for a warm lunch, started by ordering 2 soft drinks, both were very flat and we're served in water stained glasses. We then sat hoping to eat and wasn't asked if we wanted to eat so we asked for menus. After looking at menus we were told that there were several things missing off the menu, which was fine but our final decision not to eat in the pub was how cold it was there. Neither of us were able to take our coats off we were that cold so decided not to eat in this environment. Which is such a shame to lose customers due to this especially as they have 3 beautiful log burners that could be used. It's a shame they aren't using the times we are in with several places to eat closed due to the time of year to encourage customers."

A family meal. What a lovely old pub oozing charm and character. Pork belly was spot on and the veg cooked perfectly. The slow cooked chilli was hot and flavoursome. The chicken goujons crisp. Recommended

Excellent Birthday lunch, staff were on the ball throughout, 2 Lasagna's a chicken burger, food was top notch and with a round of drinks under £60. With the food served most definitely good value for money.

Somewhat apprehensive having read a few recent reviews but in the end it was pretty good. We ate twice in the evening during a recent stay in the area. They accommodated a party of 9 on the first occasion and I cannot criticise either the food or the service. It is pretty standard pub grub but was piping hot and served with a smile.

I’m so upset for the poor girl wearing the pink trainers : all I could hear for a majority of my stay was him not only shouting at her but swearing just being so nasty , she was upstairs working with a smile on her face and was lovely to me and my partner he did not deserve that even if she did make a mistake we all do ! I hope the chef realises treating staff like that is not ok Voir le carte

We thought it was great, and we eat out a lot. Went for Sunday lunch. Goats cheese and white bait to start followed by two roast beef dinners. Meat was good and veg done well with just the right crunch. Big plates too so plenty of it. 3 big roast potatoes each, yum, no skimping, so go with an appetite. Good pub food. Service was prompt and the staff were very nice. Took our dog. Would certainly go again.

We are very regular visitors to the pub but haven’t eaten here after such a poor experience a year ago. However, tired and hungry, we decided to stop for a snack before heading home after a long week in the town at the arts festival. Amy was efficient and charming (great work, thank you), such a huge improvement on previous visits. Our order was swiftly taken, the food was delivered in good time and was fresh and hot. As always the ale was perfect. Let’s hope the pub can maintain this standard of good service. Very happy this time, thank you.

Beer was good but staff hygiene needs reviewing.. The bar man happened to use the toilets at the same time as my husband and he did NOT wash his hands before going back behind the bar, which is pretty disgusting. Also I went to the ladies later on and the toilets were an absolute disgrace. The floor of all the cubicles was wet through, covered in soiled toilet paper and there was a distinct smell of vomit in my cubicle. They were terrible. Clearly no staff member was checking the cleanliness on a regular basis. It's things like this that stop people returning..... Voir le carte

What a shame. Once a great pub with good food and beer now a shadow of itself. Only one Tuns beer on, apparently they are in dispute with the brewery. Food was poor, the chips seemed like oven cooked chips. The Fish was average. The staff were poorly dressed and one looked unclean and they were more interested in the day's gossip then serving people. Had to chase to order and again to pay. It was very dirty cobwebs, dust and behind the bar was scruffy, full litter and disgusting. What a real shame. I don't like putting negative reviews up but this was my favourite pub, and management need to get a grip.

Well....where do I start? It's all gone wrong at the three tunns. Such a beautiful pub in its day now looking very unloved inside and out. Now owned by a big faceless brewery years n Holland) the pub is limited to what Three tunns beer that can be put on. Just one)xxx The staff are kids with no idea about customer service, the food is poor, the manager is a right grumpy man. I was in there Friday lunchtime for a drink 9-2-24 and the swearing and bad behavior from a group of lads was uncomfortable.we went to the castle hotel instead. I fear for the place I really do. Just needs to be back in the three tunns brewery hands. It will close I'm sure if it....and maybe it needs to ......to start ag...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
