"On arrival the garden and grounds and view were superb. We found a nice table and all was very clean, the waitress friendly and efficient. Sadly it was not a carvery but a plated meal. When it arrived I was sad to see that the plate was overloaded. Gammon slice, (bit fatty 6 roast potatoes (which could have been a little more crisp. cauliflower, carrots, parsnips, brocholli, pop up Yorkshire pudding. stuffing (a bit tasteless, and gravy. A massive meal which would have done me for two days. It looked good value but sadly I could only find room for half the amount. Sticky toffee pudding with custard was superb. and a good coffee to follow. I feel this pub has missed a trick. Most of the people lunching were 70 plus and would have preferred to have a carvery where they could just take as much as the wanted and not been over faced by such a plateful I shall go again but try their a la carte menue, ot specials if they have them"

I had a fantastic experience at the restaurant today, and I want to thank the entire team for serving us a delicious roast for our party of 8. They even went the extra mile to fulfill our special drink requests. I also appreciate the loyalty card program they offer.

the view and the outdoor area was fantastic the pub food is very very average and very expensive if you just want to go there for drinks listen to the band on a Friday night sit outside and chat with friends its ideal staff ok but need a chef in the kitchen who cares about food

Absolutely faultless. Fantastic venue, fantastic staff and fantastic food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who worked tirelessly all day and evening to ensure the guests were happy. One of the staff even gave a wedding guest and her children a lift to the bandb at 01:00 when the taxi didn’t arrive. What more can you say. Voir le carte

AreAte here as a large party recently. We found the food to be very average. Not quite the same feel as the first time we went here some 18 years ago. The curry was ok, but then so it is in Wetherspoons. The food didn’t take long to come. The tables were in need of some work. A little dirty. Would only come back if desperately hungry. Outdoors has some climbing frames for the kids.

Firstly I must say we’ve been here a few times over the past few months and each time has been great, and we should probably have written reviews to this effect. Absolutely nothing wrong with the food quality or the service when we visited on Friday 11th, however the glass wasn’t very clean at all and the food was advertised as a large portion of fish and chips, I would suggest it should be called a small portion, the fish size was “ok” however 11 chips is difficult to call a large portion. Also the mushy peas were stone cold.

We visited the wind whistle for a carvery after hearing that it had a great outdoor space for the children … which it does! And thank goodness really because it’s about the only good thing about the place unfortunately which is such a shame because it has so much potential. We had 4 carvery’s, at nearly £70! And weren’t told at any point that it included desert. Vegetables were undercooked, and the cauliflower cheese was thin and tasteless. Broccoli was brown around the edges and the condiments section was such a mess it was actually very unappealing. If we return, it won’t be for food. Voir le carte

I arranged to meet up with my family at this restaurant. The child's meal came out fairly quickly, but our main dishes (which were specials) were forgotten for almost an hour. We were so engrossed in catching up that we didn't realize how long it had been. The staff apologized for a communication error with the kitchen, but we still had to wait another 20-30 minutes for our food to arrive. The food was delicious, but unfortunately only 3 out of the 5 mussels on my dish had opened. I wasn't able to point this out because our plates were cleared while I was away from the table. We paid the bill, but there was no offer of compensation. Please improve your service, Selavi!

We visited this restaurant today for a family Sunday lunch, it was our first time here and will be our last. We ordered sausage and chips for our daughter, and were told it could take up to 20 minutes (which was fine). However, the food came out in only 5 minutes and the sausages were deep fried and raw. When we complained to the woman behind the bar, she rudely snatched the plate from my husband's hand and told another worker to make another one without apologizing. Her lack of customer service skills were very disappointing. This experience was off-putting and we decided not to go up for the carvery after seeing it closely on the way out and finding it unappetizing. We regret not taking a...

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
