"We thought we would give this pub/ campsite a try as we wanted to cycle the tissington trail we booked onto the campsite at the back for £25 a night. We have a VW T6 Camper van. Positives: The pub is set in a lovely village has a cozy fire up the chimney and serves great food the chips were amazing!! The campsite pitches are spacious and it was quiet at night. Negatives: the shower facilities were in need of renovation they were clean but not heated and nowhere to change in privacy the shower itself was hot but the little block was FREEZING. For £25 a night we expected better to be honest the washing up facility was the same unfortunately looked like it needs a refurb. This is why we can only give 3 stars. A great tip for the pub would be if your touring customers are paying £25 a night then maybe offer them a discount off their food bill if they eat with you…. Most other pubs with campsites do this. We did enjoy our time here but because of the primitive shower facilities would not come back for camping."

Lovely pub for a walker and his dog. Friendly, good walkers menu, reasonable prices and good quality food.

A lovely pub to visit whilst out walking in the area. Nice grass area to sit with benches. Lovely village too.

We ordered burgers and rhet were absolutely disgusting. I had also ordered a coffee and I was given instant coffee. I was very annoyed by mr experience. Voir le carte

Great pub, friendly staff, food great and fantastic value. Had game pie fish pie. Was very filling so unfortunately didn’t have room for desert. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.

We took a side trip from the Tissington Trail on a sunny frost day to see the village of Biggin. We were tempted in by the smell of wood smoke and treated to hot tea and triple fried chips. Others were enjoying hand pulled pint !

We were staying in Rose Cottage just a few mins walk away from the pub. Yes it could probably do with a bit of a re-vamp but, it was a great old fashioned country pub. The staff were friendly, and we were made to feel so welcome. The food was really lovely, with great butchers meat, and locally sourced produce. Highly recommended. Voir le carte

The pub ambience is great and the drinks and the staff lovely. However, the food was diabolical. I can honestly say I have never had such an awful meal. I ordered the home made steak pie. The meat was inedible and the pastry pale and soggy. The chips were burnt. The veg was ok. We didn’t say anything as the staff were so nice. It’s such a shame as we have stayed at the campsite in previous years and had lovely meals.

Staying locally so booked at Waterloo Inn for Sunday Lunch. No choice of meats, received 2 slices of beef which were too tough to cut, 2 really small probably frozen roast potatoes, 2 definitely frozen Yorkshire pudding as had freezer burn making them too hard to eat, a small amount of mashed potato and a generous portion peas with just a couple of strands of cabbage mixed in, (not the fresh veg we had anticipated), all smothered in an abundance of black gravy substance that had no indication it was home made. Then when we made payment the price had increased by £2 per person from the advertised price, which we questioned and were told ‘we are having problems with the website and unable to a...
