"I have been here a couple times now after being diagnosed with coeliac so I am gluten free. A friend told me the tower has gluten free on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night so I thought I would give it a try. I had battered haddock and chips, I was pleasantly surprised how nice they were, not greasy and well cooked with plenty of haddock in the batter. My kids had a kids meal deal of sausage and chips served in a kiddie box with drink, lolly pop and a small toy and at under £4 each was a bargain. Great portion sizes too. I went in to the tower and ordered with just a short wait. Helpful staff also."

The food at this restaurant was not good - the fish and chips were overcooked and tasted burnt. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I do not plan on returning.

I just needed a bag of chips after a round of golf..... £1.30 with salt and sauce felt like good value. Chips were as you’d expect, good to have some Scottish brown sauce on them.

There is no excuse for such poor quality food. The restaurant should focus on making fresh food without taking shortcuts. This was my first time ordering here and it will certainly be my last. Voir le carte

Edit: after the reply i must say brilliant reply and response time. Ordered at 8:21 for it to be cancelled 20 minutes later, now having to wait 3 days for a refund, if timing is bad there is ways to state it online. Also ignoring calls after the fact us also just rude when the closing time is 9:45pm

Really hit or miss, had some decent enough (though not at all outstanding) fish chips from here, but after the one we had two weeks ago we'll not be bothering again. Haddock supper was definitely not haddock, it was dry, mushy, and the batter was soggy and wet. At the price of a fish supper these days it should at least be edible. Voir le carte

Tonight my partner ordered 2 burgers one quarter pounder and one donner burger, only one shows up also missing salad and sauces. Calls up store to be told the quarter pounder was still there. Second burger arrives 15 mins later still missing salad and sauces and now has chilli on the burger. Won’t recommend ordering from here, clearly incompetent staff

Totally disappointed in the meals delivered tonight, my sons pizza was wafer thin not much of a topping, chips were leftovers from last week I think. Horrible, at least the fish was nice. It’s saying something when the dog turns up its nose, well at least the bin has had a good meal, What a waste of £18’ The Tower always was the best ever but sadly it’s went truly down hill, they should close the doors and let someone else in that can cook. Unprofessional

"I am sitting in my room at the sun inn as I am writing. It's a Sunday. I checked in at 8 15. The one young employee who was in the building was professional but informed me on arrival that the kitchen had closed. Bummer but it is a Sunday. Upon asking when the bar would close he told me 10pm. I decided to go to the shops and buy some cold sausage rolls and a bottle of wine to mitigate the early closing and grabbed a quick single beer in Dalkeith in a bar that closed at 11. My intention was to pay more for somewhere I could have several drinks without driving but I tried to make the best of my origional plan. I got back to the sun inn at 930 to find not a solitary light on and figured I'll watch some TV instead. Only the TV didn't work. I dismounted it after trying to configure settings on the 2 controls. The sky box was not connected sinse it was a flat wall mount and there was only a single accecible hdmi port, out of three, that could be used. That was already oucupied by the fire stick. Now it is sitting on the dresser since it cannot be remounted with both availible devices connected. 40 minutes of fooking around and nothing has changed. The bar is closed. No night porter, no TV, no breakfast and a broken bathtub. All the reasons I paid the extra to come here instead of the cheaper airport option have be removed. The room is nice though. It's as good as an airport one minus the stains on the headboard of the bed."

"Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner."
