"Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner."

"I came to this restaurant for drinks and was unfortunately met with disrespect from one of the young staff members. I do not know his name, but he had red hair of some sort. His attitude was terrible and it was evident that he did not want to be there. I have never experienced such disrespect from a staff member at any bar before. He should either be let go or receive training in better manners. I would like to return to this restaurant, but only if he is no longer there or has improved his behavior."

"Absolutely shocking the way we where spoken to in this shop.... My wife is exempt from wearing a face mask the guy was very abrupt but another customer was there without a faceask but was only asked after the man was abrupt with my wife absolutely disgusting the way we where treated.... Won't be ordering again and will be letting friends and family know..... Absolutely no need to speak to people the way he did I have one very upset wife she had her excempt card on and showed him it.... As I said we normally order alot but never again and family and friends probably won't want to order again either.... My wife should get an apology for the upset this has caused"

"absolutely fantastic experience! last minute in the city advised staff, made us friendly welcome while a suitable table was arranged. once sitting (and before our server was wonderful with information about the dishes, suggestions when asked. the suggestions were on the point that haggis zigarren stornoway black pudding (which arrived just a short time after the order were delicious with our net, the sea bass fillet chicken balmoral perfectly matched. after that we split one of ann’s memories to the desert, took it with some special gin’s that were all from this world! the meringue was the perfect size for the exchange <3 I came out of Australia I was not aware that gins were anything but alcohol mixed with tonic or ginger-ale, the 2 side menu, the suggested instructions describes me first confused, but I am grateful I tried a new experience that opened a whole new world"
