"ok I prefer to write good or extraordinary reviews! in the last 2 weeks we visited the smugglers inn twice, once for lunch and also for family dinner. both times we felt that eating was good, not great, but inexpensive....(The lazy lion down on the road has better food, but at a slightly higher price). the service was very terrible. it was not particularly busy and was shown to our table.......and then forget. After 20 minutes I rose up and asked if we drank ourselves and ordered the food on the bar (it was a Sunday) or whether someone would come to the table. had to interrupt 2 youngs behind the bar that seemed to serve much more interest in their conversation than me. they asked a waitress to come back, no excuse for waiting for her, exactly what do they want to drink. we ordered to eat at the same time.......sees safest thing to do. 15 more minutes went by and I had to get up again, and again the bar staff interrupted their very dedicated talk to ask if our drink would soon be on the way. no apologies, but simply a dunno, I will find out that hooray drinks have arrived, but the sauvignon blanc of my wife was a big glass red! we explained this again, no apologies, but one right, I will change it the (different) waitress who returned shortly with the right wein offered an apology. well received. at the end of our meal we were willing to go and decided to pay the fastest to cash. I was only asked if they were not, whether we enjoyed our meal or something. we paid and left. I contrast this to each of the other restaurants in Milford-on-Sea, where they are warmly welcomed and their annoyance is appreciated when they go. 2 of 2 bad experiences. we will try again if the owner had the opportunity to fix the service and the settings of their young employees. but if there is no improvement, then a third time and we will be good!"

beautiful bank holiday meal there was 9 of us and they made us all feel very welcome and nothing was too much brilliant for adults and children can’t complain about a thing

Sunny garden for a quick drink before dinner. Prompt service at the bar and plenty of seating to suit all both inside the restaurant and in the pub garden We didn't eat here but the menu and food looked good Nice choice of wine.. beer Family and dog friendly

What a lovely restaurant! We didn't have a reservation, but they found us a table where we enjoyed drinks and food. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. The ambiance was beautifully decorated and not overly loud. The restaurant is also very dog-friendly.

The Smugglers are the sister pub to The Hare and Hounds at Sway and the menus are similar. The Smugglers is very much a family pub but welcomes the more mature diner as well! The staff were welcoming and friendly and they welcome dogs, always...a plus. The menu is fairly extensive and caters for all tastes. What more could you want. Voir le carte

Went here for Sunday lunch with the family and dog. Nice place inside with a good selection of options (I’ve found this to be lacking in many places since the pandemic). The prices were good and when the food came it was a good quantity...and quality. 4 different choices and everyone was happy. A couple of pints of good real ale made it a successful visit.

After reading the previous review, we believe that the service has greatly improved since then. We visited two days after the last review and found the service to be excellent. While there may have been some room for improvement, overall our first visit to the restaurant was fantastic. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the menu was very good. We hope to return soon. Thank you for a great experience!

We went here twice during an Easter visit and both times were delicious with a great varied menu. My in laws went an additional night they loved it so much Great kids menu and our daughter devoured the fish and chips. Adults fish and chips...was great, I also had the veggie pie that wasn’t as nice but more not to my taste Great kids area to play in at the back. Staff were all lovely and helpful too. We spontaneously decided to dine out as a group of five plus our four-legged friend during the Jubilee weekend and were pleasantly surprised with our experience! Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed by the staff who went above and beyond to accommodate us. The restaurant provided a relaxing atmosphere, and even offered treats for our dog. The service was friendly and down-to-earth, making our family meal enjoyable. We were able to unwind, play card games, and let the children play in the garden while our dog felt right at home. .............As long as dog owners behave themselves. Easter weekend, bedlam! The place was rammed full of families with young kids, but because the manager is so good at her job, had the right amount of well trained staff, everything went off perfectly without a sniff...of a hitch. Food was delivered promptly and in good time and of a quality and quantity belying the circumstances, representing excellent value. They say patience is a virtue, the staff needed it and delivered it in spades. The dual age range play park at the back of the pub was a godsend for our two grand brats (sorry, children) who spent the whole afternoon making friends with other kids and having a great time.
