Tasty food, good company, lovely hosts (cheers Brenda)...glad to see the pub open again. A really good welcome a cosy comfortable please to meet and eat.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and the food was amazing. Very accommodating as we didn’t book, the staff were welcoming and friendly and it was a great atmosphere. Also dog friendly!!

Used to go here often for dinner and drinks before it closed down so when we saw it was reopened would go to try it out , I’m sorry to say we will not return the food was lukewarm and bland and the whole place lacked any warmth very disappointed

Went to the opening of this pub today. As we arrived, we were given a warm and friendly welcome. It has a lot of character. The food was excellent. The staff were cheerful and helpful. You will miss out if you don't visit. Will definitely be going here on a regular basis. Well done, everyone at the Royal Oak.

had last week lunch in the royal oak and it was amazing. the staff was so friendly and welcoming, eating was so delicious that everything was eaten on the dish. I had the black medallions and it was so tender and mouthwatering. Nice to be on the country outside while enjoying excellent eating and doing. will go again. Voir le carte

I want to thank Matt and the team for accommodating us yesterday. We were disappointed by another local restaurant for a friend's 40th birthday with no prior notice. The Royal Oak Downton provided us with a wonderful spread and reserved a private section of the restaurant for our group. Communication was excellent throughout and they delivered exactly what we had requested. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This charming pub offers delicious food with a diverse menu selection. The interior is pleasant and the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff is accommodating and friendly. There were only two servers during our visit at 6 pm, which was manageable, but it became very busy as we were leaving at 8 pm and I felt sorry for them as they were rushing around. If there were more staff, it would be a perfect 10/10, but I'll give it a 9/10. I would recommend this place and definitely return.

We had our first meal at this restaurant over the weekend since it was taken over by new owners. I have always been skeptical of this place for years, as it has always been mediocre and disappointing as a local option. However, I was very impressed this time. The food was fresh, plentiful, and tasty, the staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful, and the wine selection was good as well. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere.
