"The food quality at this restaurant was very disappointing compared to my previous visit, and the experience was made worse by the rude and unhelpful waitress. My friend ordered the panini, but found the bread to be stale, with a meager amount of strange-tasting chicken and barely any sweet chilli sauce. I chose the crispy pork belly starter with chips, but the small piece of pork was not crispy at all and tasted old and fatty. I requested for the salad to be without apple, but it was not brought to me at all until I asked for it. The waitress seemed annoyed and brought me a tiny cup of salad with apple slices. I decided to just eat the chips, which were pale and soggy. The staff members who initially served us were polite, but the other waitress was unprofessional in her appearance and attitude. Overall, the food quality and service left much to be desired."

Great Sunday roast I had the triple meat and couldn't believe how much there was! Luckily friendly staff offered a doggy bag so took what I couldn't eat back for my pooch Food was delicious and cocktails were lush. Also loving the new bistro look.

I and my family were here for the weekend. we were in many places in the environment, but that was the best at all. they let us be very welcome, the staff is no longer there, and eating is excellent. I would recommend this hotel to everyone! from heart, many thanks to all in the royal oak.

We made a reservation for Sunday dinner at this restaurant last week and we were all extremely impressed. The food was absolutely wonderful and the service was excellent. It is a lovely place to dine. My partner said it was the best Sunday dinner he had ever eaten. We will definitely be recommending The Royal Oak to everyone we know. Thank you again.

We came here for Sunday dinner and yesterday's experience was amazing. The meat was so tender it melted in my mouth, and many people had mentioned the fast service. My partner was delighted, as we were short on time and our lunch arrived before our drinks, which he was thrilled about. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. I couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend this restaurant on all levels.

We found ourselves in town and were searching on Google for somewhere to eat. We stumbled upon The Royal Oak and decided to have Sunday dinner there. What a hidden gem! The staff were extremely polite, and even accommodated our three dogs. We sat in the beer garden and savored great beer, tasty food, and were served by very friendly and professional staff. If we lived closer, this would definitely be our go-to spot."

Stayed at the Oak for the second time last weekend. Since we stayed last year the bedrooms have been refurbed and our room was lovely very clean, plenty of gorgeous fluffy towels, tasteful good quality pine furniture, a wonderful comfy bed and of course a delicious breakfast. We also had dinner again and the food doesn't disappoint a good menu with tasty well prepared ingredients. What makes the Royal Oak extra brilliant is the friendly, efficient staff from the waiters to the bar staff they are all lovely. Thank you for another great stay.

I met a friend for lunch at this restaurant. It was fairly quiet for a Friday, but that's to be expected as pubs are not as busy as they used to be. I ordered a bacon and Brie panini with chips, as well as a fresh orange juice and soda water. The panini was delicious, the chips were cooked perfectly and crispy, and the salad was nice. My friend didn't eat because he had already eaten, but he enjoyed the Timothy Taylor's bitter beer. It was great to catch up and enjoy some delicious food. It was also good value for the quality of the meal. I highly recommend this place!

Spent an evening last night at The Royal Oak for a 60th Birthday Celebration, food was very good with everyone cleaning their plates, service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Stayed the night for B&B in recently refurbished bedrooms, perfectly comfortable with comfortable beds, upstairs still a work in progress but not far off finished, rooms have TV and tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning of a next door property was a bit noisy, not sure what time it kicked in but noticeable around 7:00am. Shower was tank fed and a little tricky to set perfectly but plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereal, full English and a Vegetarian opt...

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
