"First ever visit to eat after a long cold day at work, really looking forward to a hot meal so I chose a 'Beef Tikka Curry , not too spicy not too mild.. £14.00! The food was served in a large bowl with yellow fat rice, a pot of mango chutney a poppadom. The curry was very dark in colour as a first impression the poppadom was slightly floppy wet.. the flavour of the curry was NOT a tikka flavour at all, nor a curry, but as a trained chef both military civilian.. I recognise that this had been overcooked heated up again to have developed this rich dark colour the beef was as tough as old tabbing boots. The extremely friendly waitress came over to check how it was I did mention the tough meat.. she went to investigate.. she returned to say it was cooked in the slow cooker so basically the chef was disregarding my palate that it was tough.. therefore no offer of a discount or dish change. I do love the atmosphere the pub does have a popular following being the only pub in the village to offer food... regulars such make a lovely atmosphere alongside the real fire, so win win in many aspects. IWhen deciding to eat out I must say which isn 't often due to my busy work-life, I can only say it was highly disappointing for a £14 bowl of filling yellow rice.. all else was eaten through sheer hunger.. I may not eat here again but I will no doubt venture in for the warm ambient atmosphere drinks. I hope this is seen as positive criticism not a review to hinder a promising business.. please ensure food is tasted before either sending out or being dismissed through the pride of a chef who may not be able to take an ego bruising! Healthy Regards Debut Patron"

We were staying at the Old Mill B&B so were able to walk here for dinner. The service was very friendly, the food was delicious, especially the Dorset apple cake dessert.

We made a pit stop in the village on our way to Weymouth for a break. It was a Tuesday and the restaurant opened early at 10am for the locals, so it was quite crowded. When I went to pay the bill, they told me it was £3. I mentioned that we had three people in our party...

I stopped for lunch today and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. It was a bonus to discover that they can cater to coeliacs. The portions were generous, but we made sure to save room for dessert. I tried the (gluten free) Dorset apple cake with custard, and it was worth every bite.

The Sunday roast at this restaurant was phenomenal. After a late dinner on Saturday, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to book a table for the Sunday roast. My in-laws, partner, 5-year-old, and I all agreed that the food was incredible. The roast was especially delicious. The staff were also fantastic - friendly and welcoming. I can't recall the last time I had such a memorable dining experience.

Best Sunday Roast for miles! Went on a whim to try a Sunday Roast, phoned before hand as we have two large breed dogs to make sure they could accommodate us and they were so lovely. We were sat in their ‘Post Office’ room for more privacy with our dogs, the menu was lovely, a few different dishes from your big standard same old pub menu. I had the sautéed mushrooms with artichoke hearts and truffle oil to start, absolutely divine. My partner has the smoked haddock fishcake which was equally as good. Mains were a roast beef and pork, so much meat and a lovely selection of fresh veg, I also ordered the cauli cheese which was beautiful. My partner had the blue cheese burger. Both mains were ple...

"We had the best time here on Saturday lunch. We arrived early to a quiet restaurant and were greeted by super friendly and well informed staff, who made us feel at ease and explained their new ‘small plates’ menu. Our kids were given a nice menu with colouring in and nothing seemed too much to ask for. We decided to let our 4 and 6 year old order from their kids menu and hoped they would try some of our dishes too. The menu really is very appealing, so much so that the 3 adults ended up ordering EVERY dish they had on the menu in the end! I think it was 16 various dishes of meats, fish, veggies and pasta’s. All homemade and with a really modern vibe. Our waitress was soo good at making us feel at ease we had the best time. A few dishes were ordered and came out really fast we were overjoyed at how beautiful they looked, and the flavours we so well balanced and punchy we got really giddy and decided to order all of the other dishes and just share them all out. Have to say each dish was a triumph, my favourite was the pork ‘burnt ends’ with sweet and sour carrots and a mustard sauce, my partners was the pointed cabbage dish with sesame, my mothers the beetroot and goats cheese crispy ball. They all were delicious, and our kids tried loads of new things like a crab pasta and a cheesey focaccia. It seems like they really thought these little dishes out soo well, temperatures, textures, colours, flavours, elegance we’ve not had anything like this outside of London. So, 16 plates in, plus the kids had their main course… we were all full up, felt like we’d been on a culinary adventure. And then we were offered something sweet okay maybe we were just being greedy, maybe we just couldn’t resist not trying more?! The kids had a ‘build your own dessert’ of ice cream and sauces and sprinkles and cake bits looked great but sadly only for kids! We had their ‘sweet things’, kind of like large petit fours. Chocolatey cake balls, salted caramel truffles and tart passion fruit jellies all were amazing! By the time we left, the restaurant was really busy and I can see why we will most certainly be coming again! Thank you!"
