"Firstly, I hate leaving bad reviews. I know how difficult it is to run a business certainly things are made much tougher in these current times. I’d much rather recommend great places for others to visit and enjoy, but after todays experience at The Red Lion, this is one place that we won’t be going back to. The building itself is very nice, with a lovely cozy bar area and a great menu. Booked in for lunch as we’d been wanting to try the place for some time. The restaurant area is more of a large conservatory. Very busy and full of large groups. A bit too noisy to enjoy as a couples location as you can’t really hear each other speak above all the background volume. Certainly not somewhere to go for a romantic meal or with another couple as the conversation would be a struggle. The tables are also very close to each other and we were practically rubbing elbows with the table next to us. Without wanting to come across as a snob, 2 awful women who we’re constantly getting up to go outside to smoke, then coming back in and hacking up their phlegm with incessant coughing "

Disappointed with the quality of food. The Haddock had bones in and the chips just ordinary frozen chips. Not the usual standard for there.

Nice country pub. Sat in conservatory area, was very pleasant. Sunday lunch menu. Full choice of meats. The lamb was beautiful. Came with full complement of veg. Food was served promptly and hot. Couldn’t fault it. Service was excellent. Highly recommend this by pub.

We visited the pub for my Grandads 90th Birthday meal. Unfortunately all were very disappointed. Thought the food was over priced, loop warm and portion sizes especially for vegetables with a Sunday meal were ridiculously small. £32 for a minimum of two courses simply not value for money!!!

Visited quite early on a Wednesday evening. Already quite a few people there possibly because they had special menu prices before 6pm. The place was soon full. Two had sirloin steaks Wednesday night was steak night. They were cut thick and were very tasty juicy with all the usual trimmings Two had steak and ale pies which were great. Crispy pastry and tasty tender meat. Portions were generous too

Had a 7.30 booking for a meal with my husband. We were shown to a table in a separate area that was next to a table of 8 people who were not eating and just sat there getting sloshed. Part of a restaurant experience for me is the ambiance, this was unfortunately unpleasant as the loud behaviour was more suited to the bar or Wetherspoons. We ended up rushing our main course just to get out of there. We won’t go back.

Really great experience. We opted to go to the Red Lion for an early evening meal. The food was superb. I had the aranchini to start and my partner had the Brixworth pate. For mains my partner had the fish and chips and asked for a side salad. I had the rolled pork belly. All the food was amazing including the side salad that come with the fish and chips. We will definitely be back and the early evening deal was very reasonable for top quality food and atmosphere.

"Richard and I, en route from Cambridge to Shropshire, chanced upon this splendid cafe in Kettering, easily accessible from the A14. The cafe occupies a cosy space with a breakfast bar by the window, offering a lovely view of the local red-brick architecture, and a fine place from which to watch the colourful characters of Kettering passing by. Unlike some cafes, there was no 'greasy spoon ' smell, which was a boon. Instead a delightful and appetite-arousing aroma of freshly cooked bacon and eggs. Richard opted for the small breakfast, and had no trouble in swapping out his eggs and tomato for black pudding and mushrooms at no extra cost. I ordered the much-vaunted breakfast baguette. The food was cooked freshly and served quickly. Richard was impressed by the appearance of his plate, and more so by the delicious food which he consumed with gusto. Richard said the bacon was well cooked, the mushrooms were good, not too greasy, generally everything was well cooked, the only thing that could have been better was the sausage, which was fine but obviously a 'standard quality ' sausage . My breakfast baguette was fantastic, the crispy bread was marvellous and the generous filling was hot and tasty, and not at all greasy. All this, plus two steaming cups of flavoursome tea for the bargain price of £9.90. We both took the opportunity to use the facilities and we 're impressed with their cleanliness and the provision of Radox soap. On the whole a great find. We will certainly drop in again if we pass by on another adventure."
